Additional resource placement
This week our environment team has been focusing on additional resources around the map. If you look closely at these in-engine screenshots, you can see small yellow dots: each one of those is a new resource placed in the world! Now you should always be able to find your basic trade goods!
Balancing and fixing after V0.09
Everyone else is focused on fixing various parts of systems added in V0.09. This includes fixes to various items’ weights, thirst and hunger rate changes and various crafting recipe changes. No fun screenshots here but look forward to these changes when the next update lands!
Weekly Q&A
Does every animal use the same AI? because they all just flee when encountered?
We now have three different states for the AI that is used for the wild animals. We have a scared state that is used for the stags, a hostile state that is used for wolves and a neutral state that is used for domesticated animals such as the pigs, cows and chickens.
Do you have plans to make horses and/or wild animals susceptible to the black plague as well?
Very interesting idea! Not something we’ve specifically planned on. However, we are planning on rats that carry the plague and can infect people.
Have you ever considered leaving the low-fantasy setting? As in: Adding supernatural fantasy elements?
It has been mentioned but never considered seriously. We’re very rooted in an gritty, almost true to history setting. It fits with the theme of the game and the atmosphere we’re trying to create. No dragons, sorry!
Will there be quest npcs or dialog with guards telling you more about what has happened or will be happening?
Expanding the dialog of various NPCs is planned. As to when it will be implemented, it’s too early to say. Quests are another feature that’s still being discussed but no solid news on this yet.
What would you like to see for these systems?
Will it be possible to buy things for your house, like extra storage boxes (not every house has one) or crafting stations?
In our latest update V0.09 we added recipes for professions to craft utilities that can be placed inside your house. Extra storage boxes does sound like a great idea, we will definitely note this one down!
Will there ever be an official pre-history? Not a tutorial as such, because the game is pretty simple, but it is pretty obvious that there has been skirmish battles all over the map.
You may have noticed various books appearing in Mercia. These hold the history, myths and accounts of life in Mercia!
