Multiplayer
Matches now play out from start to finish instead of falling apart at the end.
- Get eliminated and you stay in as a spectator instead of being dropped back to the menu
- The host is asked to confirm before quitting, and everyone gets a readable message when a player leaves or is kicked
- One shared match HUD, so the state of the match is the same on every screen
- Your duck color is tied to your Steam identity, and you can change it, so you always know who is who
- Pick and configure your ship in the shipyard before the match starts
- Host, Join and Quick match straight from the main menu
Ship combat
- Fire your ship weapons manually, with assisted aim that locks the nearest target and a new crosshair on the HUD
- The laser only fires once it is locked on, and only registers when it actually hits something
- Haptic feedback on ship weapons and reworked projectiles
- New kamikaze bodyguard you throw from your inventory like a living mine, with its own warning sound
- New X-Ray view button, on a cooldown, to see what is hiding around you
Diving deeper is harder
- Oxygen now drains faster the deeper you go, with the depth multiplier shown on the HUD
- New oxygen canister you can carry and drink on the spot
- Backpacks change your stats, movement speed included, so what you wear is a real choice
- Full screen feedback when you are taking oxygen damage, and a dissolve effect when you die
Missions and tutorial
- New tutorial missions for the healing zone and for eating
- Mission complete now has its own sound
- Menu labels and the ship select screen translated
- Dialogue lines now say who is speaking, with the whole script realigned to the canon lore and the translations reviewed
Menu, UI and audio
- Reworked main menu: speed, boost, handling, hull, fuel, efficiency and range are on the ship you are about to pick
- Quality, resolution, max FPS, sky type and language all in one place
- Simpler player health bar
- The game no longer reacts to your input while a UI panel is open, so you stop drifting away while you browse the inventory
- New sound effects across the board: UI, missions, inventory toggle, X-Ray blast
Tell me what breaks
- Press F8 in game to send a screenshot and your logs straight to Discord, no forms, no copy and paste
- New Discord invite and playtest code flow, in #verify, #rules and #playtest-code
Fixes and performance
- Fixed the bug that broke joining online matches in the packaged build
- Fixed players staying invulnerable after a match ended
- Fixed the target crosshair in multiplayer
- Fixed homing weapons losing their lock, single reward handed out per objective, oxygen in the ship
- Fixed bodyguard capsule ships losing track of you
- Fixed the boost current triggering when you leave your ship
- Less stutter from enemy searches and the speedometer, and the Unlimited FPS option is gone because it caused more harm than good
This build is where the game stops being a solo dive. Bring someone with you,
then tell me what fell apart: F8 is one keypress and it reaches me.
