Devlog 29/10/2015: Final day!

Hey everyone!

Today is the final day before Indie Game Battle releases on Steam. Personally, I'm a mix of nervous and excited at the moment, but I am hoping for the best!

Though, in other news, I've worked very hard on polishing things these last few days. Just yesterday I finally added shield stun to the game; meaning that if you're hit while shielding you'll get trapped in shield for a little bit.

This makes multi-hit moves much more useful, as strong multi-hit moves can lead to way easier shield breaks, since the opponent will be trapped in their shield and is therefore forced to take all the hits onto their shield.
Shield stun is also higher if the move is stronger, so if you get hit by a really strong attack you'll get stuck for a little bit longer.

I've also added air speed to the game, meaning that characters move different speeds in the air. Unlike before, where characters simply used their ground speed stat to determine their air speed.

I've also buffed a few characters a lot. As everyone who's played the game so far agreed on that they were easily the worst in the game right now. So I'm happy to say that those characters are much more viable now.

Ledges have also been refined a bit, as there was a bit of weird ledge snapping earlier. Something I've heard some people call "magnet hands"... So ledges should also be better now.

Also, I thought I'd let everyone know that 8 colors for each character is the new standard, instead of 6 like previously.

We also have 2 surprise stages joining into the game now right before release.
So in addition to the older stage roster I confirmed a while ago, you also get a stage called Orbit's Lab from a game we at Blob Games Studio are developing called Electroman.
And the other stage is called Water Temple, and is from a game called Guppy's Quest.

While I don't think there will be any surprise characters, there are quite a few characters who are very close and could actually pass as WIP characters with a little bit more work done to them.
So maybe you can expect some new additions not way too long after release!

Also, while I'm not going to go into detail about it yet, we do have at least one quite known game onboard in the near future. I suppose you'll see though!

Oh yeah, and before I end this devlog, I really hope everyone will like the game once it releases. It has been a really difficult challenge to make this game, and a pretty uphill battle in a lot of cases.
But I am proud of what Indie Game Battle is becoming, and I look forward to letting people play it!
