PATCH NOTES 11/12/16: Introducing VR Capture and Vive Hands

New feature: VR Capture

  • Users can now watch “Encore” performances of popular events in AltspaceVR due to our new VR Capture technology
  • Upcoming “Encore” events can be viewed in the Events tab alongside live events

    New activity: Paint Studio

  • Users can now host and join a “Paint Studio” activity
  • Select from multiple brushes and colors to paint your masterpiece
  • Paint either in solo mode (so only you can see the painting) or in group mode (the default)
  • Save your masterpieces so they show up around the space

    New feature: Interested button

  • Users can now register interest in events by clicking the star button on an upcoming event
  • Events you’re interested in show up in the Interested tab of your Events UI

    New feature: Hands

  • Vive users now control avatar hands instead of controller models
  • The cursor angle has been adjusted on vive controllers from a laser pointer style to a pistol grip style
  • Keyboard and mouse can now be used simultaneously with Vive controllers connected
  • Known issue: some users are having trouble with their Leap Motion since the update. We are looking into this issue and hope to have an update shortly.

    Various polish improvements

  • Updated to Unity 5.4
  • Updated the style of the exit / quit page
  • Removed background and added padding for the Avatar edit page
  • Improved performance of emojis (users in crowded events should see a performance improvement from this change)
  • Fixed an issue causing CPU drain due to loading spinner
  • Fixed bug where the Home panel of the UI opened even if you launch directly into a space
  • Home UI design improved so images are more visible
  • Fixed an issue where Twitch was not working on desktop
  • Various audio bugs fixed
  • Added a “particle crowd” system to Front Row events that visually represent how many users are attending the event in real time
