Patch Notes 5/24: Friending updates, Gear VR controllers, and more.
Various updates
We know how much you like looking in the mirror, so we added a picture of your avatar when you open your menu. It will dynamically update when you change your avatar or clothing.
We now support Gear VR controllers.
When you open your menu, avatars around it will be hidden so they won’t get in your way.
Added a notification that allows you to enter your phone number to get a text message to download our mobile companion app. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it in the Google Play store.
A lot of friend friendly updates: We added a friend request badge in your control panel so you can see how many pending friend requests you have. If you are in a space with someone who has friended you, their name tag will automatically open prompting you to accept/reject their request.
We also added friend suggestions—after talking to a user for a certain period of time, their name tag will appear above them asking you if you'd like to friend them.
What’s that? The sound of friendship. A new sound effect will play when you receive a friend request.
Performance improvements
Interactables in the House Party activity should be slightly easier to catch now. Go toss a frisbee!
Fixed gravity so that you don't fall at ludicrous speed (aka your avatar won’t go to plaid).
You will now respawn where you were when you log in after disconnecting due to network issues or a space gets reset.
You can find potential friends by username rather than email.
Name tags display users as first name and username.
Interactables on Gear VR and Daydream controllers have been improved.
