Greetings,
Welcome to our latest edition of the Atom Republic DevBlog. This week, we’ll be taking a closer look at what’s going to be included our next update (v4.11.4132). So, let’s get to the juicy information, shall we?
Holo Horses is due to open!
Our latest mini-game in the Arcade Plaza is opening for the first time. Known as Holo Horses, it’s time to take to the race track and place bets on your favourite horses. This will allow you to place Atoms on your chosen racer and if you’re lucky, you could win big!
Holo Horses will also introduce the first iteration of challenges. By completing these challenges, you’ll be able to unlock some pretty cool rewards for your avatar.
Atom Smasher is coming to the VIP Area
The next instalment of our Arcade mini-games will soon be available to play in the VIP Area, located in the Arcade Plaza. Atom Smasher is a throwback to one of our favourite retro-style games where you are required to smash as many boxes as you possibly can before the boxes cross the line. Collect power-ups, avoid the boxes containing the penalty powers and try to set the highest score for bragging rights.
Main Menu UI Revamp
With the latest update, one the first things you might recognise is that our main menu has completely changed. No longer will you be required to travel from screen-to-screen looking to join public or private spaces, trying to find the avatar customisation screen or even trying to find the option.
This new update will add a whole new level of simplicity to navigating our main menu. Now everything is accessible on one screen and you will allow you to navigate between different tabs by pressing the L1 & R1 buttons.
Easter Lost & Found Content
With Easter just around the corner, we’ll be putting a unique twist on the Lost & Found mini-game. From the next update, we’ll be replacing all the collectables with Easters Eggs. This will essentially make the Lost & Found mini-game become an Easter Egg Hunt, fun huh?
New Animations
Premier members are going to gain three brand new animations to show off. Firstly, the Vulcan Salute pose is going to be available alongside with the Jumpstyle 4 and 5 dance animations. Secondly, the Facepalm pose will soon be available for free members of Atom Universe.
New Clothing
As a Premier Member, you will also be gaining some new items of clothing to your wardrobes. Male and Female avatars will have the stylish Varsity Jacket to wear. Free members will also be able to find the seasonal Easter T-Shirts within their wardrobes.
Male avatars will also be able to find a new casual looking shirt available in the Atom Universe Store.
Lastly, remember EmeraldPhoenix’s suggestions for Sandals? We’re happy to announce that these two suggestions are going to be making their appearance in the update.
New Accessories
Premier members are going to be able to wear a cute beany hat with bunny ears, whereas with free members can soon wear a bunny tail to help get into the Easter spirit. New accessories such as the Bunny Ears Headband and Gas Mask will also be on sale in the Atom Universe store.
New Hairstyles
In this update, a small handful of new hairstyles will also be added to the Atom Universe Stores for purchase. From the next update onwards you’ll be able to find the Pixie Hair, Wavy Mohawk, Short Bob and Long Ponytail.
Disable UI
Following on from the revamp, our Designer has managed to find some time to begin disabling certain parts of the UI. This will allow you to turn off UI and gather screenshots of you and your friends, or maybe you would just like the remove chat boxes from the environment.
This is a first implementation of the disable UI and we’re aware that some elements of the UI will remain (such as interactions in the Cave House, or commands near the chairs and mini-games). We’re aiming to remove these from the UI within a future update.
Inverted Y-Axis
The final mention in this week’s DevBlog is related to a much-asked feature from the Atom Universe Community and we’re happy to announce that the Inverted Y-Axis suggestion is going to be implemented into the upcoming update. Once released, this setting can be activated/deactivated from the settings menu.
