Hello hello. So this was an experience in programming, taking a somewhat simple closet and turning it into a monstrous twist of fate. OK I exaggerate.
Thank you all for being patient with me. I know I originally said Saturday. Please know I tried.
Here's what's new
The closet now holds random items or bad things... It can be opened multiple times when you leave it alone and come back to it later. This can be bad or good, it's a test of luck.. the odds are in the players favor though.
What's in this? Who Cares?
You'll will more than likely come across additional painkillers and alternate ammo for the revolver when you play. If you discover both of those in the same playthrough, your odds are significantly higher to discover a list of other things afterwards.
Body armor is coming soon, in fact! it's already here! If you are lucky enough you'll find some in the closet, this will only last for that current playthrough if discovered. But you will be able to permanently unlock it next week via the rewards screen. ( I apologize for using the word via, this is an indie game after all. )
Let's gear up
At this point I want to show off what else has been done. But like any red blooded humanoid living in the age of rampant spoilers, I tussle, we tussle.. and are forced to make choices .. do I want to know now? Or wait and discover it all myself?
I'll let you decide.
GIFS below....
Ok, well now that that's over. Here's a list of what you'll encounter in this crazy closet:
- A Healthkit. (Low Odds)
- Painkillers. (High Odds)
- Lemat Alternate rounds, (High odds)
- A bomb. It explodes on you, you can either kick it away, run away , or have it blow up in your face. ( Low odds )
- An unlit bomb. Stick it in your inventory, throw it at things you don't like. ( Low odds )
- A wooden board. Just like all the others, this reinforces doors. ( Low odds )
- A cultist. That's right! Some times they like to hide inside the closet now. They might pop out occasionally just to say hi. ( Low odds )
- Body Armor + 30 shotgun rounds. Jackpot! (Very low odds )
- A poison cloud that you should run away from immediately. (Low odds)
- A stick of Black Dynamite. This explodes almost instantly after being thrown. No cultist will be fast enough to outrun it, zombies don't like it either. (Very low odds)
- A dread Zombie... (Very low odds) What the hells a dread zombie? More like the return of the dread zombie. This guys tough. He doesn't run away like the cultists do and he takes a decent beating.
Dread Zombie
Upon killing the dread zombie you gain a rocket launcher, so it's not all bad. Use this to take out a group of zombies instantly, or an annoying cultist.. Who knows?
That's about it for the closet for now. I'm sure it will be undergoing a little maintenance in the future.
In other news the Beta for Hardcore is available if you want to check it out and really put your abilities to the test. Maybe you just want to flex all the stars you've spent on the rewards menu while earning some more. Playing Hardcore mode earns you additional tokens. Just a heads a up, there's A LOT more zombies.
To activate beta Hardcore mode simply tap the "H" key while on the Main Menu, or before you're about to pick your playtime. You can visibly tell you're going into a Hardcore challenge because the times and letters will turn bright red. Tapping H will toggle this on and off.
Shit got real
I want you guys to know, even if you don't plan playing hardcore at the moment, you should toggle it on and off at least one time this week. Because in the next update it will cost tokens to unlock. If you toggle it on now, it's yours as a gift forever!
I'm gonna be playtesting more to make sure everything works correctly with that, so I can take it out of beta status and forge onward with the completion of this monstrosity.
Expect more explanations and stuff tomorrow, with Monday's Work week layout. I have a little check-list ( almost complete ) I'm trying to get through before I take Episode 02 out of Early access.. Oh happy day!
I hope you all had a great weekend, thank you so much for the positivity and feedback. I'm really trying hard to make this game as fun and unique as possible. What's amazing and is also extremely important is that you guys care, and that you stop by to see what's up and to play what's new. It keeps me going and excited to dive back in every week. Together we're seeing this thing through to completion. And even if episode 03 never gets funded you've all made this a hell of a ride. So cheers to you and that.
See you soon.
