Each of the polises engaged in maritime trade in the Libre Sea is unique. Some are famous for their silk, some for their jewelry or seductive dancers. However, there's no other city as infamous as Tilamin, a city that hosts the Guild of Killers famous for their mastery all over the continent.
The Tilamin killers are meticulously selected and trained from early years, they possess extraordinary skills, rather resembling magic, which give them supernatural abilities in wielding their blades. The Guild orders killers to conceal their true names, but nevertheless, some of them become quite famous for their mastery.
Such was Rhiannon – an exemplary killer, master of blades. No victim escaped his blades after he had signed a murder contract. His fame grew until he met Ice Suare – the younger daughter of one of the richest merchants in the town of Tilamin.
The reputation of the Guild of Killers could often influence any case even without spilling blood, therefore the most famous members of the Guild used to accompany merchants and Tilamin seniors, where the latter needed to impress enemies or even friends. Once, Rhiannon was invited to an engagement of the eldest daughter of the Suare family. He was seated beside her younger sister in order to have a chilling effect upon young men from other merchant families and to talk to the groom.
Rhiannon himself was a born warrior, he would always find such places utterly boring. But not this time. He could not take his eyes off the girl sitting beside him. They barely said a couple of words and danced only one dance, but when Rhiannon was leaving the hall, he had a feeling he was leaving behind something very precious and important.
This strange feeling made him wander along the seaside listening to the sea and then come back to the house of merchant Suare at dawn and ask him for his daughter's hand.
The father listened to his words in silence. After Rhiannon had finished, the merchant told him he had to reject his proposal, because in spite of Rhiannon's great fame and skills, he was still almost a beggar compared to the merchant's beautiful daughter, the pearl of Tilamin.
What was his surprise when Rhiannon calmly asked, “How much gold do you need?”
That very day, Rhiannon left the Guild and went into the sea in search of the legendary golden lands, of Alcatta – the home of all treasures. He was driven by the merchant's promise to wait for a whole year until Rhiannon becomes rich and worthy of his daughter. Now, when he fights for treasures against other heroes, his enemies should remember that Rhiannon's blade is operated not only by his skillful hands, but by something else, far more powerful.
Power that is capable of destroying whole worlds.
