Well, I'm a composer now! As we reach the final weeks before the release of the Fortified Space free demo, one of the last things I'm doing is making songs for the game's original soundtrack. I played a bit of piano and guitar in my youth, and I do not have much of a budget for this game, so I decided that I would try to make the music on my own. Making a video game as a solo developer really exposes you to a wide variety of artistic pursuits, I've learned. Whew, what a lot of work!
A playlist of the songs I composed so far for the demo can be found here:
The songs cover a variety of moods, from quiet contemplative music for space travel to rousing orchestral anthems for the tower defense and ground combat sequences. I'm no Hans Zimmer, of course, but I hope you find the soundtrack an enjoyable listen!
The demo's development is progressing on schedule, with the focus now on bug fixes and playtesting. Keep an eye out for its release either at the end of July 2025 or early August 2025. If you haven't yet, make sure to wishlist the game and get notified as soon as there is a release.
Happy gaming!
