Hi everyone!
I'm thrilled to release Update 0.7.9 for the Splatchinko demo! For this patch, my main goal was to drastically improve player agency and reduce turn passivity. I wanted to give proactive players more tools to manipulate the board and take control of the chaos once the ball is in motion.
Here is everything new in this massive update:
💥 Player Agency & New Mutations
Dozens of New Mutations: I’ve added a ton of new abilities to the pool!
Gravitational Slap: You can now actively slap the balls while they are in play to change their trajectory!
WormHole: Spawn black holes that completely invert gravity for a few seconds, flipping the board physics upside down.
Balance Pass: Alongside the new additions, I have tweaked and rebalanced the existing abilities and Eyes for a fairer, more exciting experience.
🔓 Persistent Meta-Progression
Keep Your Unlocks: The demo no longer resets your meta-progression! Between runs, you will now permanently unlock new abilities and Eyes.
End-of-Run Gifts: Even if you die and fail to kill the boss, your effort won't be for nothing. You will now receive a small gift at the end of your run to help you progress!
🎮 Controls & UI Upgrades
Gamepad Input Refactor: I have completely rebuilt the controller input from the ground up! It now features a brand-new precision mechanism that is much more user-friendly and allows you to line up absolute precision shots.
Enemy Damage UI: It looks and feels much better thanks to new visual effects and animations on the UI.
🎙️ Audio & Bug Fixes
New Voice Lines: I've added dozens of new funny little voice lines for the end-of-turn comments!
Peg Text Fix: Squashed a minor bug affecting the text display on the pegs.
