What is The Puppy: Rebuilt?
It is a full remake of the original The Puppy.
The story and main events are still based on the original game, but the presentation, environments, and gameplay are being heavily rebuilt.
This is much more than a graphical remaster.
What is the biggest difference?
The original game used pre-rendered 3D environments and a structure heavily inspired by games like FNAF.
In Rebuilt, the environments are fully real-time 3D.
You will be able to physically move between certain areas instead of simply switching between fixed screens.
Can you explore the entire house?
No.
The game is still intentionally limited.
You will mainly move around the central area of the house and places such as the kitchen. Bedrooms and other areas will remain inaccessible.
The goal is not to turn The Puppy into a free-roaming exploration game, but to make the original mechanics feel more natural and functional.
Is it moving away from FNAF?
A little.
That influence will always be part of The Puppy’s origins, but Rebuilt is also an opportunity to give the game more of its own identity.
Will the story change?
The main story will remain recognizable, but the lore will be expanded.
There will be new details, events, and small hints throughout the game.
Some of those ideas may also lead into something bigger in the future.
Does that mean The Puppy 2?
Maybe.
The Puppy 2 is not officially announced, but we already have an idea of what a sequel could be.
Some of the new lore in Rebuilt is being written with that possibility in mind.
Would Little Ribs return in The Puppy 2?
Little Ribs, our real dog and the dog behind the original The Puppy, will still be part of The Puppy: Rebuilt.
It simply wouldn’t feel right to rebuild the first game without him.
Sadly, Little Ribs passed away earlier this year.
He was part of our lives long before The Puppy existed and, without ever knowing it, somehow became part of a game, a story, and something that will always mean a lot to us.
If The Puppy 2 ever happens, we feel that his story belongs here.
In the first The Puppy.
Some things don’t need to be replaced to keep being remembered.
So what would happen in a sequel?
The idea we have for a possible sequel involves two new dogs, a different situation, and a new story.
And, let’s just say...
we already know exactly who those two would be.
But that is a story for another time.
What is happening to the TV?
The television is being heavily simplified.
The original game could show real movies and other media. Rebuilt will no longer do that.
Instead, the TV will focus much more on atmosphere: strange broadcasts, fictional commercials, warnings, static, unsettling images, and other content created specifically for the game.
Is there an analog horror influence?
Yes.
Mostly through the television, audio, and certain events.
We want those elements to feel more minimal, monotonous, uncomfortable, and strange — like you are watching something that seems normal at first, but slowly stops feeling right.
Rebuilt is not becoming a full analog horror game, though.
It is simply one of the influences behind its new atmosphere.
Will cameras, power, and the baby still be part of the game?
Yes.
The main ideas and systems from the original game are still there.
They are simply being rebuilt to work better inside the new 3D environment.
Will Rebuilt be scarier?
That is the goal.
Not by simply adding more jumpscares, but by focusing more on atmosphere, silence, anticipation, and discomfort.
A strange sound from another area of the house.
Something on the TV that should not be there.
Something that looks slightly different from the last time you saw it.
Sometimes, nothing happening should feel uncomfortable too.
Is this a remake or a remaster?
A remake.
The environments, systems, presentation, and parts of the gameplay are being rebuilt from the ground up.
Will existing owners have to buy it again?
No.
The Puppy: Rebuilt will be a free update for everyone who already owns The Puppy.
Why remake The Puppy instead of making The Puppy 2?
Because we still see a lot of potential in the first game.
Looking back at it now, there are many things we would approach differently.
Before continuing the story, we want to build a version of The Puppy that feels closer to what we believe the game can be today.
And if there ever is a sequel, we want it to have a much stronger foundation to build from.
So, what is The Puppy: Rebuilt?
The original The Puppy, rebuilt almost entirely in real-time 3D.
More physical.
More atmospheric.
Less dependent on fixed screens.
More confident in its own identity.
With an expanded story and a little more hiding beneath the surface.
It is not The Puppy 2.
It is still Little Ribs’ game.
We are just rebuilding it the way we wish we could have made it the first time.
