Hotfix #2 to Patch 19 on July 20th and other tidbits

We're deploying a hotfix with very selective fixes which are affecting a number of people. If we get solutions to other specific and prevalent problems, such as edge cases in performance on client or server before next week's patch, we'll put them out but otherwise focus my team on the main development pipelines (as opposed to a hotfix pipeline).

An example of an important hotfix would be the very elusive 5 second freeze which we can't reproduce locally, which this bug requires. It's not enough for it to happen on live, we need to make it happen in a controlled environment internally to see what is happening. But yes, we're very aware.

Here is the contents of today's hotfix in case you are interested. We don't always post the contents since we hotfix quite often only server side and they don't affect you, but this one does for some of you:

  • More thorough fix for crash in PvE character facade component, testing the facade for nullptr in all client codePath.
  • Fix server crash in ServerSaveKillHistory
  • Prevent CharacterMovement server crash by validating velocity NAN instead of calling check
  • Backend fix when doing multiple RTC transactions which was highly annoying

After reading into sheep intestines and rolling some bones (I'm Icelandic) I can give you a glimpse into the week ahead and next.

I see quite a few UAT test server updates with a lot of more enabled items and rapid balancing changes tested. The first update later today.

I see a map, even two, either massive updates to current maps or a brand new one from UAT.

I see a patch next week on Early Access, and another one following with entirely new systems being revealed.

I see I need to take a shower after this as it's pretty messy.

I don't want to go into more specifics as you know the sexy heresy train has no brakes and our road to launch is the highest priority. That means Early Access and UAT get updates when there are stable builds, we don't divert resources to specifically stabilize an intermediate build. It's for the greater good of mankind.

However, we have lowered the bar for Early Access builds so that you feel the momentum of development so I'm not saying you get less updates, they will just be more determined by a good daily build, not some dates that have no meaning to our road to launch.

As always, we love your continued support, your feedback, your reviews, yes even those of you that give us negative reviews because whether you like it or not, you're still helping with the feedback. We like feedback. I know it looks like anathema that a developer listens but hey, if you haven't noticed by now, we're absolutely bonkers over here. And we like 40K and have gods as our copilots.
