Holiday Sale, Thank You, & Future Projects!

Hi everyone!

Holiday Sale

I’m happy to announce that 8-Bit Adventures is 50% off in this year’s Steam Holiday Sale – that means you can own it for just $5 USD! And that’s not all. You can also get the fantastic Remastered Soundtrack 20% off ($4 USD), or the Game + Soundtrack bundle 34% off (that’s only $7.91 USD)!

I know that well over 1000 people still have the game and soundtrack on their wishlist, so now’s a great time to start your own 8-Bit Adventure! =)

As always, I like to spotlight recent player reviews. I make sure to read every single one (including those in other languages), and sincerely appreciate all of the wonderful feedback:

8-Bit Adventures wow what a game. Had this title been released somewhere been 1985 and 1989 it would of been right up on that pedestal with the great RPGS of that time. Just playing through this game you can see the amount of time and love the dev has put into it.
Can't say enough about this game. Especially since there is a lot that has already been said…If you like RPGs and Steam achievements, getting this game is a win-win! ...Lastly the music is very enjoyable! If you like FF1 type 8-bit music, then I'd recommend getting the soundtrack as well!
Definitely one of my favorite games ever. I got this game in a bundle and I left it in my library for far too long just because I didn't have any great expectations for this game. Boy, was I wrong...This brilliant game made me laugh, cry, and ship characters. It's amazing how every NPC is interesting. Anyway, I'm so glad that I finally got to play this masterpiece. I wish more people knew about this game. It deserves more love.

Thank You!

On a slightly more personal note, I wanted to thank each and every person who’s purchased 8-Bit Adventures, reviewed it on Steam, or posted on the forums. 2015 has been my best year in a long time, and you guys have given me the confidence to move forward with other projects. It was only 8 short months ago that I was preparing to give up on my dream and leave game development behind. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for being awesome =D

Future Projects

But enough of that - let’s talk about the future. In 2016, I’m planning to release two games. The first is called Tales Across Time and will be launching very early next year. It’s an RPG featuring a unique turn-based battle system, and is a much more linear and story-focused experience than something like 8-Bit Adventures. Please stay tuned for more information coming soon!

And I’m very happy to officially announce that "8-Bit Adventures 2" is in development and will be released in 2016. It’s still very early days, but I can say that I’m working with a new engine (RPG Maker MV) which will result in a much smoother experience for players (and no more resolution issues!). Almost all of the money I’ve earned from 8-Bit Adventures Remastered Edition is going into this project, so you can expect a much-improved visual experience.

To give you a taste of this, I re-created a map from the original 8-Bit Adventures. Keep in mind that everything is work-in-progress, and the character sprites are recycled from the first game, but I hope this gives you some idea of what to expect. You can take a look here. Please note, the second image is taken directly from the original game, and is included for comparison.

If you want to keep up with future announcements, please make sure to check the 8-Bit Adventures Steam Community or follow @CriticalGamesAU on Twitter.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays, and a wonderful New Year. See you in 2016! =D
