Major Changes
New boss - Chiwa has been added. She’s still missing story implementation, which will be the focus of the next update.
Vermillion Vixen Nia has been removed from the demo. (Change of plans, so she won’t be in the demo scope. Wait till the full release to see her again!)
Louise has been remodelled and has received a full rework of her moveset (because her animations got broken). Some effects and balance changes are still incomplete, but I’m rushing this update out because it’s long overdue.
A new tutorial is in the works. For now, it just goes over the absolute basics and doesn’t include skill tutorials yet.
The gauntlet mode demo hub has been merged with the demo mode boss select mode. However, there are no NPCs in this place as of yet.
Kiriko has been remodelled, but this has broken all of the costumes, so they’ve all been disabled in the demo. I’ll probably be reimplementing these as they come up in the demo story, as they’re originally meant to be rewards for beating a boss + completing their side stories.
Some text has not been updated yet, especially JP translations.
Other Changes
Iai Stance has been reworked. There’s technically up to 2 stages of charge, but only some actions have variants for the first level of charge. There is presently no additional effect for charge level 2. (Still debating just keeping it to a single level, since in practice there really won’t be much chance to hold it for that long. )
Mist Form is in the middle of being reworked. For now, the main change is that it’s faster, costs less, but travels a shorter distance. Using it while grounded no longer brings you into the air, and you can phase through other characters to get behind them by using this. I’m still deciding if this will be how it is going forward, or if the previous version was better.
Grass and tree shaders have been rewritten from the ground up, so hopefully this should run a lot better now.
A lot of bug fixes and backend changes.
Upcoming Updates
I’ll be at TGS 2026 from 17-19 September, though I’m not exhibiting anything, just a regular attendee. I won’t be able to work on the game much while I’m there, hence the rushed update (which has also been long overdue).
The next update will be focusing on restoring the story mode, although I may also make a smaller update just to fix up things I’ve left unfinished in this one.
At this rate, it is unlikely that the game will be in a good state for October Next Fest, so it’s much more likely that I’ll have to delay the release till 2027, after February’s Next Fest at least.
