Shoot 'Em Up Kit Version 2.0.3 Now Available

We are pleased to announce that version 2.0.3 of the Shoot 'Em Up Kit is now available. This new version contains many new features and bug fixes.

The change list for version 2.0.3:

  • Added the Velocity movement type to CameraShots. These simplify the creation of R-Type style cameras; or Push-Cameras.
  • Triggers, Checkpoints, CameraShots and Objects can now have Parent Entities. Players, NPCs and Lights already support Parent Entities.
  • Videos can be added to the Front-End pages, the HUD and Pop-Up events.
  • Completing a wave can now trigger a Pop-Up event.
  • Added more notification pop-ups to help guide users.
  • Removed the requirement for users to be logged-in on Steam builds.
  • User variables are saved as part of a player's save game file.
  • Scenery sprites are now correctly displayed in thumbnail icons.
  • Menu icon has been moved to a more intuitive position on the toolbar.
  • AI characters no longer over-compensate when chasing an enemy.
  • Pressing [Esc] or visiting another Editor will cancel placing an item in the HUD or Front-End Editors.
  • Empty names are no longer possible for Definitions.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented a rotated light from updating in real-time.
  • General UI Fixes and Improvements.
  • Fixed an issue where project settings were not saved properly when modifying a project.
  • Fixed a potential crash if a default particle system was deleted.
  • Fixed default values for User Variables.
  • Bullet Destroyed particle effect and the Bullet particle scales are now saved correctly.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Scenery item name changes from being stored.
  • Fixed an issue that could create empty thumbnail icons for Entities on PC's with certain graphics card drivers.
  • Minimum Sprite frame time is now 1/100 of a second (0.01 seconds).
  • User Variables' default values are now correctly saved.
  • User Variables are automatically initialised to their default values at the start of games.
  • Added notifications for PopUp editing.
  • Improvements to AI Rotation types; including more control over the speed.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause NPCs to appear to shake when following a spline.
  • Fixed an issue where cancelling selection of a Parent or Parent Tag could cause the Editor to be unresponsive to some actions.
  • Fixed a potential crash when using Undo in the Front-End Editor.
  • Fixed a potential crash when using Formations.
