Shoot 'Em Up Kit 2.0.5

We are pleased to announce a new update to the Shoot 'Em Up Kit. The new version includes new features such as air resistance, hidden objects, and more control of weapons. There are also many fixes and improvements.

The release notes are:

  • Player and NPC Entities use 'Stop' as their default Area Action.
  • Added 'Resistance' property to simulate the slow down that occurs from the environment (e.g. Friction or Air-Resistance).
  • Added 'Hidden' property to allow objects to be active yet invisible.
  • Deleting a Sprite or Entity no longer returns to the top of the asset list.
  • NPC Generators now place Sprite Entities in the same way as they do Mesh Entities.
  • Fixed an issue with sprites not animating correctly in-game.
  • The Sprite 'Loop' option is now saved correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where an extra Entity could be created when using the Sprite Editor's 'Auto Build' option.
  • The Max Duration property for Bullet Patterns now applies to both Player and NPC entities.
  • If a CameraShot is set to move along a spline then setting the Tracking Style to 'Static' will make the camera's focus follow the spline too.
  • Improved the way the Camera follows a spline. The speed is consistent with Player and NPC units of measurement.
  • Strafe Up and Strafe Down are now fully implemented.
  • Chamber Time has been renamed Rate of Fire and is no longer part of the 'Reload' properties.
  • Setting 'Num Bullets to Fire' to 0 will fire unlimited bullets.
  • Setting 'Max Bullets' to 0 indicates there is no limit to the number of active bullets.
  • Pop-Ups can now play audio effects.
  • Fixed a problem with texture thumbnails not being displayed until you changed them.
  • Fixed an issue which could display a sprite 1 pixel out in the x and y directions on the Sprite Preview window.
  • The scrollbar no longer resets to the top of the pane when changing NPC properties.
  • Fixed an issue with the project directory being reset when modifying other properties on the Settings menu.
  • The 'Min Duration' and 'Max Duration' properties for Bullet Patterns now work correctly for the Player.
  • Added fixes and safety checks to improve stability.

Thank you for all the feedback. We hope you enjoy this new version.
