tonight I gave myself the goal "give 10 Steam keys for Mysterious Space to 10 game reviewers on YouTube", and I did! who knows how many of them will actually play; who knows how many of THOSE will bother to do a review... I guess we'll find out!
also: I am finally ready to start donating profits from the game to awesome organizations! as mentioned before, the plan is to do $500 chunks to various organizations, cycling through these topics: space, health, education, misc. I'm going to start with The Planetary Society, which was founded by Carl Sagan, and currently has Bill Nye as it's CEO! they do all kinds of super-neat things, including, among many other awesome things, missions with solar sails, and I personally love solar sails :P
donation will go out later this week!
my next target will probably be Planned Parenthood, and for education, I will start with PBS. not sure who do donate to for the "misc" category, or who I'll hit on the next go-around through these topics, but Wikipedia, CosmoQuest, and NASA are definitely on my mind (JAXA never got back to me. I guess they hate me :P)
but one thing at a time: Mysterious Space has only recently passed the $1000 mark in Steam sales, and I have to leave wiggle room for taxes and all that. still, if things continue as they've been (and if Mysterious Space gets some more attention through reviews) I think the next $500 batch will be ready in a couple weeks :)
P.S. thanks so much to DDRKirby(ISQ), who has been making the music, which is so great; it has made the game so much more fun to play. also, to Ambre, who's been doing French translation, and Theo, who will soon be providing German translation! I can't wait to have the game fully and truly available to French and German speaking parts of the world! (and other languages WILL follow, though I'm increasingly aware of some changes I need to make to the code before going all-in on internationalization!)
