Luckily, Timmy had an eye for strange messages, codes and the like. He's been well trained in the art of reading gibberish by carefully studying plenty of comic books. It didn't take him long to understand what was written on the can. It was a message from another group of survivors, who invited every decent person to join them in constructing a new settlement.
What a wonderful day! Someone is out there! Someone alive! Someone who can write!
Well, truth be told the "letter" had plenty of spelling mistakes, so before the apocalypse the family might have been a bit wary of these folks. But these days they aren't so picky no more.
Meeting friendly mutants is one thing. But meeting someone who is not heavily invested into plundering your shelter and eating you for dinner is a pleasant change of pace. And so the decision to follow the directions from the scribbles and go and meet those people was unanimous.
But whoever goes will need more than a gas mask to get there.
Ha! Good thing Ted decided to take that suitcase, instead of extra water bottles! The voyage into the unknown fate that awaits in the wasteland will be much more enjoyable with a few extra things packed!
