Welcome to a new experimental update! This time we are introducing the plasma pistol as the first of our handheld arsenal.
From now on you will be able to construct guns and ammunition in the 3D printer. We are still heavily tweaking all the values but feel like the pistols are ready to be tested by everyone who downloads the experimental branch (instructions below).
The crafting recipe for a pistol is; 50 brass, 50 steel, and 25 silicon
The recipe for ammunition is; 25 iron, 25 nitrous oxide, and 50 hydrogen.
Every ammo cartridge contains 12 shots and there are 6 cartridges in a printed package.
Furthermore this patch is still heavily focused on bugfixes and performance optimizations, which will be a common theme in upcoming patches. For a complete list of all the fixes and more, see the patch notes.
We have stripped the stations clean from all their festive halloween decorations, but everything you’ve built will remain on your ships, and you will keep any candy and pumpkins.
There will be added new content in the final version of this patch later this week, but we mainly wanted to focus the experimental branch on this first step into onboard combat.
Thank you all for playing and if you want to stay up to date with all Interstellar Rift news you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook or you’re free to leave your thoughts on our forums! We hope you’ll enjoy this new experimental update and we’ll see you starside!

To enable the beta branch, right click on Interstellar Rift in Steam, go to the beta tab, and select the "experimental IR beta patches" option.
We will have some test servers up and running to try out these new features until the patch goes live for everyone later this week.
Please keep in mind these will be wiped at the end of the beta period.
