Fine dining - Interstellar Rift Development update 124

It’s time to take the experimental patch out of the oven once again and serve it up! This weeks 3 course dinner consists of the new fine system, a new message system and the new drone system controllers.

For our appetizer we have the new message system. In your grip you will find that the icon for your mail center has changed a little, as it now displays the number of unread emails that you have. When going into the mail center itself you will find its design has changed for the better. Each type of mail you receive will now be put into its own category. For example messages and fines have their own tab. This will make it much easier for you to keep track of specific types of messages.

For the main course the new fine system. Whenever you violate the rules in a system in such a way that you receive a wanted level you will also be issued a fine. How high the fine is, depends on how serious the violation is. So the more damage you inflict the more you will have to pay. Each fine will have a time limit, before which you will need to pay to avoid further penalty. If you however do not pay it on time, you will find that Sentinel Security Systems will become quite hostile towards you until you pay your fine. Additionally, If your ship is destroyed by S3 the value of your ship and cargo will be used to pay for your fines. Your fines will be paid in the order that you receive them.

And for dessert we have the new drone system control device. This new device will be found on most stations and will determine the number of drones for each faction that can spawn.
So S3 stations will determine the number of security drones, HSC for mining drones and GT for trade drone etc. The drone controllers are admin models and cannot be placed by players.

Please note that to get these new drone controllers on every station older saves will have to do at least a partial rebuild. See the notes section in the patch notes below for more information on this.

As always, we’d appreciate any feedback you’re willing to provide, it will only help us make the game better. We have also set up a public discord server which you can join!
Feel free to drop by and have a chat, we’d love to hear your opinion and feedback!

Thank you all for playing and see you starside!
