Here it is! Our first post release update, Early Access Update #1 We are up to build version 160 now. That should give you a rough idea of how many things have been created, altered, introduced, scrapped, fixed and enhanced over the last year or more. This is actually the second update on Steam, the first one was pre-release.
This first update focusses on the very first interactions that our brand new players had with the game. And it was quite clear that we had to address the wagons. Or, to be more exact, the wagoneers who are driving the carts! They had no problems carrying half full carts of Silo-oil to a factory, while a Rig might be overflowing on top of them. We have adjusted their behaviour, but we expect that it’s not perfect yet. So please keep playing and keep giving feedback.
Since launch lots of people played a lot of Turmoil games. And, not surprisingly, for a few of them the game fell flat on its face. There are pacing issues in the beginning of the game and, if you are unlucky, in area 1 as a whole. Oil fill in levels is randomized, but there is a correlation between adjacent plots of lands to make the bidding war on the area map interesting; you can deduct the amount of oil inside a plot from the plots around it. But if the starting point was very low (very red number), the entire area would be very low because of it. This leads to a slow campaign with not enough money for upgrades. The opposite is also true, making players filthy rich, but no one complained about having too much money for some reason.
There is a lot more, but as not many people read this far, I might as well go straight into the list.
Enjoy!
Changes
- Changed behaviour of the wagons picking up oil for factories. Test and report!
- Withdrawing the land lease (quitting a level) is no explained better and you can ‘quit now’ if you don’t want to wait until the end of the month.
- Withdraw land lease will only be possible in levels that last 1 year and only after July 1st
- Save games can be carried over to the next version of the game! That's a first for Turmoil.
- Pause button now has Settings and Back to menu.
- Added a skip Tutorial button – Note this skips level 1 only as, starting from level 2, you are already earning money towards your campaign. Rewiring the campaign to make sure that doesn’t happen would have taken too much time to fit in this update.
- The game will start fullscreen now.
- End game (after finishing all plots of land in all areas) - added a screen with explanation, made sure you can still access the town afterwards and a new map without bidding mechanisms opens up.
- Upgrading the wagons will now actually increase the visual size of the wagons.
- Added volume sliders for Music and SFC in the Settings menu.
- New Left and Right Inc. visuals.
- Added a changelog in the splashscreen with a link to Steam.
- New character art.
- Added $1000 bonus when withdrawing the land lease before December 1st

- Level 1 will stop when reaching 1300. Was 1350 before. This will save one trip!
