Hi all,
We have been very busy ironing out a number of issues in the game. You’ll find that this is one of our biggest updates to date. One reason for that is that we’ve had a new source of feedback from players: Twitch! We have been streaming the game on Twitch for 2 months now at http://www.twitch.tv/gamiousdev And it has been great to be in direct contact. It helped us realize that we need to explain some things a lot better than we are doing now, like Gas. And that some systems still need work. If you want to meet us, or ask some questions, make sure to visit or Follow the channel for future broadcasts. If you are not sure how to use Gas, or if you are looking for other tips, check out our Turmoil Tips Playlist on YouTube.
The highlight for this update is that NPC’s now act more seriously. They choose proper and different upgrade paths and won’t bid on Land like headless chickens anymore. It’s a good step towards proper opponents. Pipe building has been improved upon hugely! You can now build pipes of preview (dotted) lines as a result. The Oil distribution has also been changed dramatically to make sure that bad luck is not so much the case and proper campaign progression is assured. But there is much more so read on.
Here are the specifics for Update #18:
New
- Pipes – You can now build off and from Pipe Previews (dotted lines). We fixed issues with snapping, minimum pipe length and cancelling when hitting Rock.
- AI – The NPC’s will have proper and different Upgrade paths! They will prioritize buying specific upgrades, making them better and different opponents.
- AI – AI will now also find Diamonds.
- Oil – Distribution of Oil in an Area is now more wayward. There will also be set values in each Area to make sure every game has enough Oil. This should lessen the ‘bad luck’ and improve overall progression.
- Full year levels now start at level 6 (it was level 8 before).
- Upgrade – Point lockdown for factories. Starting in Area 3.
Gameplay Tweaks
- Stock auction – The bidding price of the auction will decrease more rapidly at the start and slower at the end.
- Moles – Searching for Gas will now be more effective.
- Rocks – The way Rocks are placed underground is now more erratic, less predictable.
- AI – Profits have been balanced for the AI players in the early game levels.
- AI – Bidding on land has been improved. First plot will be random. More reasonable bidding after that.
- Fast Forward – Fast Forward speed has been increased to 5x normal speed.
- Thermal – Upgrades have been balanced. Price per tier 60.000/30.000/30.000 Effect 100%/125%/156,25%

- Rig Speed – This upgrade will now be introduced in the beginning of Area 4.
- Updated the Upgrades players get when starting a campaign in Area 2, 3 or 4.
- Scanner – Tier 1 max $250 Tier 2 max $500

- New upgrades that become available during the game are introduced properly.
