In my previous post I was discussing some of the design challenges I face, and I think some read that as complaining.
Game development IS problem solving. Working with problems is all I do. To me that is fun and interesting, and something I love talking about. But I also can understand that from the outside it can look negative. Especially since I am not good at soft PR speak.
Same could be said about playing strategy games, the fun part is meeting challenges and figuring them out. When I hosted a Factorio server, I banned any blueprints from the internet, because that just kills the fun for me. And my favorite memories from the game are all the ways we messed up so that everything broke down.
I am not sure if I should keep running an open discussion about game design. Maybe I should keep it to the videos, where the tone of the voice makes it less “negative”, something I have to think about.
