Developer Comments On This Update
Refillable water bottles seemed like a cool feature to add (thanks to idiotekque for the idea) and so I worked it in. While implementing it I found tons of strange bugs in the way the world was loading and fixed the order the code was executing in hope of fixing these issues. The changes I made appear successful and while I was doing that I worked in multi-step chunk loading. What is 'multi-step chunk loading' you ask? It just means instead of loading 3x3 chunks in 1 frame, I separate the process into 1 chunk per frame. When you are walking by massive houses in multiplayer, this will be much more appreciated.
I worked on fixing a few more bugs and polishing the overall experience. I think that the game is feeling a lot more stable as of this update. I fixed the roof top issue and the fire sound that would NEVER stop playing when it rained. It was quite annoying to hear the calming crackle of a fire in the distance while it clearly was unlit. I don't know if I'm just picky but it bothered me. Thank you everyone who has been reporting bugs!
Idiotekque has started his work on replacing the item art of every item in the game. It is taking a bit because we really want them to look good and come out clean this time around.
Answering Fan Mail Regarding Steam Workshop Changes
A lot of discussion is going around regarding the changes to the Steam Workshop and I just want everyone to know that they (Valve) are really looking into it. Check out Reddit for example, Gabe himself was on there answering people. So don't panic just yet. This is a good thing for the Steam community!
Now I must answer the question, no I do not plan on adding the Steam workshop to Project Explore, at least not while we are in Early Access. If I update the game and it breaks a ton of mods, well then a bunch of mod creators have a lot of angry customers. Sorry but I am not going to encourage building mods on a game that updates every few days.
