The Good News
The update is stable from what I've tested and has tons of bug fixes as well as new content which can be found above. I recommend reading through it as many things have been changed.
The Bad News
There has been a few missed due dates as I'm sure you have seen if you read these posts regularly. Starting with the multiplayer and such. I'd like to be open with everyone and explain my mistake, and what exactly happened.
A Series Of Unfortunate Events
This all started back when I first got a new friend request on Steam from someone I didn't know. When most people add me I accept it which is what happened. We spoke for a bit. I discovered he was a programmer and he seemed very talented (which he is by the way) so I offered him a role on the team. I really wanted someone to take over the multiplayer so that I could focus on content and polishing for the time being.
It started with a due date that was missed by a few weeks. Eventually he told me he wanted to do the AI as a way to sort of take a break from the multiplayer work as it is pretty tedious. We set the due date 08/20/2015. That day passes and the AI is no where near ready. The release date for this update was supposed to be 08/24/2015. This obviously was an issue.
Spike (co-programmer) and I had a discussion involving his position as a co-programmer. We came to a healthy and reasonable conclusion. We are still friends and there are no hurt feelings. He had over scheduled himself and kept doing so until eventually it fell apart. He is no longer working on this game though. I also removed Idiotekque as a developer since his work was contract based and has not been called upon for a number of months.
What I've Have Learned
I'm going to be working solo from now on. I don't like relying on people. It isn't a good practice when you can do it yourself anyways. Maybe down the road if I were to own a company but right now it simply is easier to do things myself. From now on I will be the only developer for Project Explore. I may reach out for art from a few friends occasionally but that's about it.
So What's Next?
I am going to be re-writing the AI next since that was the plan for this update. I don't break promises. It just isn't in me to do so. Though to be honest with everyone I can not set a really solid due date on the next update since I have a few things to tackle over the next couple weeks. I will be working around the clock once again so we'll see what happens!
Until next time, fare well! ːCuteBearDollː
