I hope your holiday's were as fun as mine. I visited family and friends a lot (or friends visited me) Oddly my holidays were almost Halloween themed rather than Christmas. We played spooky video- and board games with my friends. The "Betrayal at house on the hill" board game quickly became my favorite board game over the last year. It's kinda like DnD lite? Every game you get a different scenario that happens in this cursed mansion that you build over the game, and one of your friends may or may not be a traitor out to kill the rest. It's really fun! There's also a Baldur's gate version of it that I definitely wanna play ^^
I keep writing these preambles for these devlogs to make them a little bit more personal than a list of things that mean nothing to the reader. If I was a better storyteller, I might try to write a lengthier post about every feature that I develop and how it ties to some fun thing that has happened over the development, but alas, this is all I have the energy for, so you mostly get to hear about whatever media I've consumed over the last sprint.
Speaking of which: the holiday's were pretty busy, but because I was on vacation for the last two weeks, I also got a lot done:
Marketing:
💠Our wishlists stand at 90 (+3) wishlist our game, if you are interested in it. Every wish counts!
Art:
💠Did some badly needed tweaks on Rudolph de Lannion's character art (old and new version compared in a gif)

💠Drew Rudolph's expressions

💠Designed some stat display UI and icons for the game. I asked around if the icons were clear enough and the majority of answers got everything right, so I think they might be clear enough?

Programming:
💠 I fixed a bug where dialogue sounds kept playing even after the player turned the skip mode on
💠I made it possible to spawn exploration interactables (explained in the previous devlog) through script files
💠 Enabled a setting to display different sized units for our characters
💠Implemented an enemy range feature. Player can see the enemy's range in 3 different flavors: full range, player marked enemies range, and highlighted enemy range. All range colors can be customized by the player to account for color blindness

💠Implemented AoE attacks that target more than one tile

💠 Implemented my first proper enemy AI. The enemies now have a behavior tree that let's them determine the best skill to use for a best target. We probably want to have lots of different enemy behaviors, but I have only implemented very basic ones as of now.

That's everything for today. I hope you had a great start to your year and may your new year's resolutions come true!
