Hello librarians! 🧙♂️📚
Development on The Librarian is moving along nicely, and today I’d like to share a broader look at where the project is heading.
🗺️ Feature Map
I’ve created a feature map that outlines the game’s main themes: core mechanics, progression, UI, content, atmosphere…
Each item is color-coded to indicate its current status. The goal is to give you a clear view of the game’s progress — even when what I’m working on isn’t very visual yet.
📌 Why a feature map?
Not everything can be shown in a screenshot — some updates are technical, invisible, but absolutely essential.
This feature map helps communicate those behind-the-scenes elements, without waiting for everything to be screen-worthy.

🔧 Recent additions
Here are the latest major features I’ve been working on:
📚 Dynamic reader flow system
Readers no longer arrive at random. Their visits now follow a curve of activity based on the time of day, with peaks and quiet periods. It brings a real sense of rhythm to your days in the library!
✨ Progression through magic schools
I’ve implemented rules for progressing in each school of magic. The prestige of a school in your library now determines the new content you unlock: books, decorations, new types of readers…
This is the core engine of your expansion as a librarian.
⏱️ Game speed control
A speed controller is now available to let you fast-forward time when things are under control. Perfect for breezing through calm periods or managing your flow more efficiently!
📝 Development is still in full swing, and your support is invaluable.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to wishlist the game — it really helps me as a solo dev! Playable versions will come once the core gameplay loop is ready.
