Hey everyone!
I’m glad to introduce the large update for THE WELL. As the production of the new, more ambitious game begins, I decided to refine my old projects. This update includes the support of the Russian language, fixes, and several interesting in-game mechanics.
If you find any flaws or bugs in the new version, don’t hesitate to write them in the comments under this post or in the community section. I will read that and will try to promptly fix shortcomings.
RUSSIAN LOCALIZATION
Translation of monologues and notes.
Translation of the UI.
Translation of inscriptions written on the wall.
Translation of the achievements.
FIXES
Fixed a bug that caused the in-game UI to resize when the screen resolution was changed.
Changed the system of interactable items that caused freezes during the first walkthrough. The highlight was removed, and the new optional hints system was added.
The positions of two of the three bodies (in the minigame, the next day after the discovery of the body from the well) changed. I know this point caused confusion because the corpses’ positions in the note and in reality didn’t match.
The hunting minigame has been significantly streamlined. This part also made the game much more difficult to complete, as players couldn't find the NPC on the large map.
The volume of fall after the jump was increased. Before, it was much quieter than other sounds.
The mass of the in-game logs that were straining the system has been removed.
A physical separation between certain objects on the map has been fixed.
The typo in the name of one achievement was fixed.
The bug that allowed the player to walk during the titles was fixed.
The bug that prevented players from progressing from one hunting stage to the next has been fixed.
The sound of typing text became quieter, as it had been a bit annoying before.
Fixed a bug that required interacting with the car instead of its under-the-hood contents at the end of the game.
NEW STUFF
A mouse-click sound effect has been added when buttons in the main menu and the pause menu are clicked.
The notes and the notebook can now be opened not only by pressing ESC but also by E.
The function “I’M STUCK” has been added to the pause menu. It allows the character to be lifted up or the scene to restart if the player gets stuck
A system of hints that shows interactive objects on the map using markers. It is enabled by default upon first launch, but the player can later turn it on or off in the settings.
The hunting system has been significantly streamlined. The number of NPCs that spawn at the very beginning has been increased from 5 to 15. When an enemy is killed, four additional enemies will spawn instead of two, as was previously the case. NPCs can hear the player from a shorter distance, allowing you to sneak up on them unnoticed.
The mechanics of the gun aim have been added to the hunting minigame.
The player can now kill NPCs with a machete.
The bullet model and the hand holding the rifle have been updated.
