Gameplay:
Warrior class available at launch
Take up your sword and face your enemies head on with the Warrior Class
At Level 15 you will have 3 active abilities including your Main Attack, a defensive Shield and your pick at 3 different active abilities with varying playstyles
You can explore the talent tree all the way up to Level 50 so you can see what we will be adding in future updates
You will also be able to choose one of 3 passive abilities which supplement the playstyle you chose to go with
Talent reroll potions will be available in Fred's shop so you can freely play around with different builds
Enemy types
Currently there are 3 main enemy types in the game which include the following:
Fighter: Fighters are your basic enemies with the most well-rounded stats to challenge you on your way to max level
Assassin: Assassins have lower health, but higher armor, attack and move faster, but deal less damage to you overall
Tank: Tanks have higher health, lower armor, they move and attack slower, but they hit VERY hard
Apart from the main 3 enemy types, you will also encounter Bosses and Elite mobs while exploring the world, you will notice them by the special mark under their name, and them being generally larger than most other mobs
Armor/Weapons and stats:
During your leveling journey all enemies have a chance to drop gear, currently there are two sets available to loot which include the Wood and Metal armor sets. Wood set drops from level 1 and the Metal armor set drops from level 10 and beyond.
Different armor sets that drop only affect your character visually, it doesn't matter how it looks or how its named, the stats allocated are affected by the features explained below
Upgrading and recycling armor is a core feature of the game where you have the opportunity to pick and choose which armor to recycle or upgrade
The stats that an item has is determined by 3 things, the level at which the item drops, its rarity and its rank
Rarity and rank follow the classic progression curve of White = Common, Green = Uncommon etc.
If you upgrade an item to its maximum rank (marked by an orange crown), the next upgrade will take the item to the next rarity level, further increasing its stats, but will not be able to be upgraded more
So a level 10 uncommon item with blue rank will always have lower stats than a level 10 rare item with no rank
Stagger mechanic:
Different enemy types have different stagger levels, meaning if you damage a Fighter mob under a certain % of Health, they will be stunned
The % of health required to trigger stagger and the duration of stagger varies per mob type
XP Loss mechanic:
If you perish in the world of Naica, the experience you have gathered in a level will be taken away and put into a pool of experience which will appear at the top of your screen
During this time you gain 100% experience from all sources until you have exhausted the entire pool of experience, this stacks infinitely
Partying up and Friends:
You can invite other players to join your party, and add them to your friends list
While in a party other members of the party can revive you if you die, but you will not regain the experience lost
Magical Gates:
During your travels, you will come across magical blue gates, which you will use Dungeon Tickets in order to open
These areas are usually filled with dangerous creatures that you will need help eradicating, so be careful before you enter one of these areas
Exploration:
There are 3 fully developed areas that you can explore:
Methylvale: The start point of your adventure. Here you will get slowly introduced to the world of Naica and its denizens, collecting resources and helping anyone you can along the way. Defeat the terrible Crab Monster to save the villagers from living in fear
Azura: The central zone where your true Adventure begins, taking parts from Methylvale as well as 3 other neighboring zones to give you a feeling of what is to come in future updates
Cerulean Forest: This luscious forest will serve as the next big step in your adventure with only the first part of three being open for exploration
After reaching Azura, you will be able to find randomly placed loot chests all around the map in hidden nooks and crannies
Interacting with certain objects will give you more information and lore about the world of Naica
Questing:
You will encounter 3 main types of quests
Main Quest - These quests can be noticed by their Orangeish/Yellow color and serve to progress the main story of Naica to uncover the mysteries of what has been happening to the denizens of this place and put an end to it once and for all
Side Quests - These quests serve to expand the world of Naica, and for you, the adventurer to help your average citizen with tasks they are unable to complete because of the state of the world. They are marked as green
Board Quests - You will encounter a board when you reach Azura, which has various requests from the denizens of Naica, simple tasks like checking up statues to collecting rare materials and delivering them back to the Board. They are marked as Purple
Professions:
You will be able to collect various materials around Naica, mainly focused on natural resources like Flowers, Trees and Ore
Certain flowers like Life and Mana flowers are used to upgrade your potions at the main 2 alchemy related NPCs
We have implemented harvesting in order to fully flesh out those professions as gathering and we have planned somewhere down to line to make use of those materials through either crafting professions or having assistance from NPCs to help progress your character
Content planned for the near future after release:
Two new classes which include the Mage and the Ranger
At least one new race
New zones which expand upon the Main Quest storyline
Increasing the Level Cap as we add more zones and content to the game
Open World Bosses, Dungeons and Arenas
Addressing the elephants:
Previous Naica releases:
As some of you may know there were previous iterations of Naica released to mixed reviews to say the least
This version hopes to alleviate all the pain points from the past and build upon the foundation of the beautiful and colorful world that is Naica
How will we do that you may ask? Well, with your help, through these points:
Active communication on Steam reviews/forums, Google Play Store reviews and most importantly Discord
Taking reviews and feedback seriously to make the game a more enjoyable experience
Proactively make changes that benefit the game
Addressing any important issues as fast as we possibly can (we're still 3 people after all)
Monetization:
Yes, the game will have an in-game shop featuring cosmetics, quality of life features and certain types of progression boosters
Gameplay design hasn't been focused around the existence of the shop
The shop will be implemented ONLY when we are sure the game and community are stable enough for us to integrate the shop in a proper manner
We are also looking into monetization models that respect all playstyles and do not punish players for not logging in every single day - games should be fun, not a job
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this, you are a legend, now go and explore the world of Naica <3
- Sincerely, Naica Dev Team
