Stratus Development Update – Wind Archer Networking Complete

Another major multiplayer milestone has been reached!

After an extensive review of the Wind Archer attack system over the last night and into this morning, we've successfully completed the networking overhaul for the unit. The Wind Archer is now fully functional in multiplayer, with its combat behavior correctly synchronized across all connected players.

Key Improvements

  • Enemy Tracking: Wind Archers now correctly acquire, track, and update enemy targets, seamlessly selecting new targets once an enemy has been destroyed.

  • Expanded Targeting: Targeting has been fully updated to correctly engage:

    • Buildings

    • Static defensive units

    • Ground units

    • Air units

  • Projectile Synchronization: Fixed an issue that caused bolts to spawn twice, resulting in a second projectile firing off in a random direction every other shot.

  • Combat Logic: Wind Archers will no longer become stuck in a firing state after their target has been destroyed, eliminating the issue of endlessly firing into empty space.

What's Next?

Our next networking focus is the Sun Barricade, ensuring its beam effects, attack logic, and replication function correctly for every player in multiplayer matches.

Once the Sun Barricade has been completed, it will mark the conclusion of the primary multiplayer conversion effort. At that point, every major gameplay system and combat unit will be fully updated for network play.

Development will then shift toward:

  • Resolving remaining community-reported bugs.

  • Fine-tuning unit balance, including attack speed and damage values.

  • Improving overall gameplay polish and stability.

  • Preparing the build for expanded multiplayer playtesting.

We're getting incredibly close to the point where the entire game is fully playable from start to finish in multiplayer. Once this final networking work is complete, we'll be able to significantly broaden playtesting and focus on refining the overall gameplay experience.

For the Storm!
