That Time I Found A Box V1.1 Change Log
Major Mechanics Changes:
Decreased difficulty (i.e. Fight/Influence growth rates) across whole game.
You can now launch a firework by pressing spacebar. Do this to celebrate great plays. Pew pew!
Reworked purgatory system. Previously it scaled difficultly primarily by ramping up the growth factor for Fight and Influence. Now it adds special perks that increase difficulty in a variety of other interesting ways that are not "number goes up", and will rely on you experimenting with Perks, Unique Card Effects and everything else to give you an edge. For example, for Purgatory Level 8, the Masochism Special Perk is activated which only allows Cards with Negative Card Effects to be Played.
Revamped Corrupted Card Effects to give powerful Special Perks that can only be gained within a run in this way. Previously Corrupted Card Effects gave very strong but very convoluted effects. We've not listed what these are so you can explore them for yourself!
Changed the way that Ascension Powder affects improving cards (i.e. in the vault). Previously it would iteratively add or improve 1 random Card Effect for each Ascension Powder, which resulted in cards with a lot of different Effects being added when you have a lot of Ascension Powder. This would become unwanted bloat in the mid-to-late game and disincentivised upgrading Cards in this way. Now it only adds one random Card Effect, but the strength of that effect is affected by the amount of Ascension Powder (typically by +1 per ascension powder for Fight and Influence, and by +1 per 5 ascension powder, rounded down, for other effects). This is considered a buff.
Increased fight or influence gain from improving a Card. Previously +1 Fight or Influence. Now +1 + the Card's Tier (1 to 10).
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a bug with Cards in Hand affected by playing a Defile Unique Card Effect (i.e. convert all Blank Effects to random Negative Effects) did not trigger the Negative Effects when played that same turn.
Fixed a bug that broke the purgatory level selector on the main menu after completing a tutorial
Fixed a bug with some Perks forced by Purgatory Levels not being initialised properly.
Fixed several bugs to do with perk points and perks activated temporarily for a run
Things that have been buffed:
Basic Resource Card Effects (Bronze, Silver, Gold) start at 20% rather than 10%.
Buffed chance for gaining a Corruption Remnant Resource from playing a Blighted Card Effect from 10% to 30%, and increased chance to remove the Blighted Negative Effect on play from 50% to 100%. This allows consistent chaining of playing Blight Card Effects and using Corruption Remnants to gain huge amounts of resources.
Buffed the values of the Bronzesmith, Silversmith and Goldsmith Perks. Previously these were +50%, +50% and +100% respectively. Now they are +200%, +300% and +400%.
Buffed the Defile Unique Card Effect to increase Fight and Influence by +30% for each Blank Effect converted to a random Negative Effect
Buffed Renew Vault Unique Effect. Previously it created a Card with 1x Blank Effect in each empty Vault Space. Now it creates Cards with no Effects.
Buffed Sealed Destiny Negative Effect. It now gives +1 Ascension Powder in addition to it's previous effect.
Buffed Sealed Fate Negative Effect. It now gives +1 random Crest Resource in addition to it's previous effect.
Buffed Pass The Parcel Unique Effect. Previously it converted to a Finisher Negative Effect on success (10% on play). Now it converts to an Inheritance Unique Effect on success (10% on play).
Buffed Negate Shuffle Negative Effect. It now also resets uses of the Randomiser.
Buffed Gift Unique Effect. Previously it gave +3 random Resources and +5 Favour when played to resolve an Issue. Now it gives +10 random Resources and +5 Favour when played to resolve an Issue.
Buffed Shuffle Draw Card Effect such that it now draws cards when you are out of shuffles.
Buffed the Reverb buff from playing the Reverb Unique Card Effect. Previously the buff played cards 2x for the turn but prevented draws and shuffles. Now it still plays cards 2x for the turn but reduces any draws and shuffles to 1 for the Turn.
Buffed Conjure Metal Card Effect. Previously it activated all basic resource Card Effects of Cards in Hand. Now it does that 3x.
Buffed Inheritance Card Effect. It now scales with ascension powder.
Buffed Creator Unique Card Effect. Previously it created 3x cards with 1x Blank Effect in Hand. Now it creates the same Cards, each with an additional Unique Effect - one has Favoured (+1 Favour on play), one has Blessed (+1 tier on play) and the last has the Sealed Fate Negative Effect.
Buffed the Replication Unique Card Effect to also fully Unseal Cards that consume the Replication Buff.
Buffed Blessing and Saint's Hand Unique Card Effects. Previously they only affected one Card in Hand. Now they affect all Cards in Hand.
Buffed most outcomes of One Of A Kind Tier Up Bonus.
Buffed Aggression Passive Effect to also apply 20% of Influence as Fight and removed the downside of 50% less Influence. This, along with the 5 below changes, gives another option to navigating the influence requirement of Phase 2 and Fight requirement of Phase 3.
Buffed Diplomacy Passive Effect to also apply 20% of Fight as Influence and removed the downside of 50% less Fight.
Buffed Momentum Passive Effect to also apply 5% of Influence as Fight per stack.
Buffed Charm Offensive Passive Effect to also apply 5% of Fight as Influence per stack.
Buffed Strength Unique Effect to also apply 10% of Influence as Fight per stack.
Buffed Dialectic Unique Effect to also apply 10% of Fight as Influence per stack.
Buffed Duality Passive Effect. Previously had a 25% chance to apply a seal when triggered. Now has a 15% chance.
Buffed Gifted Passive Effect to give at least +2 Fight and Influence when triggered, to improve it's early game potential
Buffed Resonance Passive Effect. Previously was 12 Cards in the Card Pool and Used Pile to activate. Now it's 8 Cards. This take many fewer turns to pull off, and can be a super strong early game boost, providing a lot of Shuffle, Draw and Accel.
Buffed Law of Big Numbers Passive Effect. Previously was 20 Cards in the Deck and Used Pile to activate. Now it's 10 Cards. This take many fewer turns to pull off, and can be a simple way to generate a lot of empty Cards.
Buffed Provisions Passive Effect by removing requirement that you have 0 Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Buffed Locksmith Passive Effect. Previously had a 25% chance to apply a seal when triggered. Now has a 15% chance.
Buffed Vault of Plenty Passive Effect. Previously created Cards in the Vault with 1-4 Blank Effects and had a 25% chance to apply a seal when triggered. Now creates Cards with 1 Blank Effect and had a 15% chance to apply a seal when triggered.
Buffed Porphyry Deposit Passive Effect. Previously rolled Basic Resource Card Effects an additional 1x time. Now rolls an additional 2x times.
Buffed Super Draw Passive Effect. Previously had a 25% chance to apply a seal when triggered. Now has a 15% chance.
Draw, Shuffle and Accel can now be pushed pass 7 strength if the Card already has the associated Passive Effect (Super Draw, Super Shuffle and Super Accel).
Things that have been nerfed:
Giant nerf to pool mirage perk such that it only creates 2 copies instead of 3. It also adds a card with a random negative effect.
Nerfed Minor Ascension Unique Effect. Previously gave +20% Fight and Influence on play. Now gives +15%.
Switched "Spawn Draw Card" with "Spawn Accel Card" in the Tier Up Bonus window.
Visual Improvements:
Added some shadows to the Board and Tier Up Bonus Window to make them look less flat.
Added more particle effects to the Tier Up Bonus Window.
Added a slider to fade the background (useful if it's a bit nauseating/busy for your liking).
