Hello, fellow parcel carriers!
Today we've pushed Mailstrom’s first big update since the release of the demo two weeks ago. After working through the feedback and bug reports we've been receiving on our Discord, we've added a massive expansion of content, an all-new tutorial mission, a large number of new settings, and a raft of bug fixes.
Let's break it down here:
- Area of play expanded from one to three map zones - now experience a much wider variety of delivery gameplay, including delivering within multistory structures. Be sure to try the game at multiple difficulties to fully experience the full variety of obstacles and adversaries!
- New tutorial mode - learn the basics via a simple in-world mission that shows you everything a PGPS carrier needs to know in a (mostly) low-stress setting!
- New streamer-friendly settings - per-system volume controls, push-to-talk, and more!
- New Easter Egg mechanic - keep an eye out for retrievable Plasm Detectors. There's one in every mission!
- Enemy AI upgrades - monster behavior improved to allow more stealth gameplay, in addition to having a proper attack state that's no longer “all they have to do is touch you to damage you.”
- Improved dispatch bay - overhauled progress and assignment boards to communicate more clearly
- Visual and audio content improvements across the map
- Collision and nanite rendering optimizations to improve performance
We've also fixed the following bugs:
- Game has trouble in full-screen mode, occasionally crashing (game now defaults to borderless windowed, is now easy to record on OBS or other video capture software)
- Loss of cursor when ESC menu is deployed
- Multiple clicks required to activate start button
- Error warnings about virtual shadow maps or insufficient video memory
- Game crashes on shutdown
- Difficulty selecting audio input and output device
- Undelivered parcels return to dispatch bay
- Items seen falling out of dropship during departure animation
- Game defaults to too-high graphics settings
- Save slots present confusing UX - difficult to know how to start a game
- Engine noise too loud on dropship
We’re looking forward to seeing how much more fun you’ll have in the newer, bigger Mailstrom Demo Day!
