This past week we've been working on many bugs, exploits fixes, anti-hack, and balancing issues.
We've started the beta period of the games development. So the main work is on bug fixes and polishing at this time. Many days have been spent tracking down some of the memory issues in the game. We are starting to see some areas that can be improved upon, and are working on integrating these improvements.
The anti-hack leaderboards/statistics are also being worked on. A fix is being worked on for players with no-names. We are working on allowing admins to right-click on the name of someone who has the most reports/abuse and easily hand out server bans directly from the leaderboard/stats areas. As well, making a leaderboard of the top offending players based on our stat tracking for things like flying and the such. An automatic server banning option is also being tested and worked on, it will take a look at the reports a player has received, and compare it with all the stats and data we track on each server of each player, and try to make good judgements based on the data. This option will be turned off by default in the server config menu, but will hopefully be available for testing in the next update.
If you are an admin, you can access these leader boards in-game by typing" /menu" in the chat. For example, "/menu open Leaderboards" - This will open the leaderboards.
EAC has also been working on it's anti-hack. A ban wave is coming, and many players have also been recently banned. Unfortunately it is always an on-going battle it seems to combat hacks, as with each new OS introduction, or unity engine update, or Windows update, hack providers are always looking for a new back-door. But we will continue to fight the battle, and will continue to look for additional ways to further protect the game.
We've decided to go back on the resource node change. We originally made this change hoping it would encourage players to battle over nodes more. It seems that the community would prefer it to be back to 250 for the most part. So we've decided to bring it back up to 250 per a resource node.
We are also looking into what options for server customization we will offer. But this will not be ready for the next beta update, or possibly two, as we think its best to focus on bugs first.
Some of the new polishing is that we've developed a way of ensuring that the player does not see his body clipping in the camera (disappearing) when up close while doing things like drinking, eating, or swinging a sword. It looks much better now and the first person mode is much more immersive as a result.
Have a Happy Halloween,
- The Code}{atch Team
