Hello everyone!
This Patch is a fun one. First off, thank you to everyone who has been playing! We welcomed in a lot of new Early Access players over Christmas, and the feedback & seeing people clash on the Leaderboards has been fantastic.
This update has serious changes to Eternity Mode - we always knew you'd find a way to break it, so decided to put it out in the initial state of being as "extra" as possible. Two key takeaways emerged, and this patch introduces new mechanics to shake up the mode. We've also reset the Leaderboards to allow for a fresh wave of competition!
Let's take a look at the two new features in Eternity Mode:
Death's Blight

We knew Healing would be a core component of Eternity Mode. We expected players to eventually out heal the potential damage, but the extent to which it's been overcome is very impressive!
We're introducing Death's Blight to the mode as a means of making the Roll Damage far more of an engaging threat. This way, Healing is still valuable, but will diminish in it's effects as a Round progresses. One of the core aims here is to make Eternity runs quicker - as the absolute top players on the leader board right now have hours long runs, which while impressive is not ideal!
Death's Deal

The other element we identified to build upon in Eternity Mode is the control of risk versus reward that the Player has. In between Rounds, Death will ask you a simple question, how confident are you feeling? You'll have 4 choices, each setting the limit the amount of Turns available to you next round. The reward? An additive multiplier that will be built up during your Run!

This means daredevils hitting perfect runs can overtake those playing it safe making it further, as well as reap the reward in Obols. We wanted to add more choice to spice up your runs and react to how confident you are in your current build. Let us know how it feels in the comments!
We've also smashed a fair few bugs that weren't patched in the last weeks updates, but get out there and experiment in Eternity Mode! The Leaderboards have been reset and all the glory is for the taking.
Cheers,
Connagh & Joel
