Welcome to our very first DevBlog! 🎉
We’re excited to finally share what’s been happening behind the scenes in the shark lab. From core mini-games to story progress, here’s a peek at what we’ve been working on this week.
Development Progress
🦷 Tooth Drilling
This week we’ve been focusing on the core mini-games, starting with tooth drilling. Technically, this has been quite a challenge. Our goal is to strike a balance between performance and realism so the process feels tactile and satisfying without causing lag.
💦 Spray Mechanic
We’ve also introduced a new spray mechanic. Tools now appear in the player’s hand instead of simply vanishing from the table. It’s a small detail, but it greatly improves immersion — you actually feel like you’re holding the equipment. The drill and other instruments will soon follow the same logic.
💉 Interactive Lab Objects
Progress continues on interactive elements within the lab. Lighting can now be toggled individually via switches. It’s a small but impactful detail that makes the environment feel more alive and will play into gameplay.
🔌 High-Density Tooth Models
Our artists are working on new high-density tooth models. These allow us to represent cavities and their gradual removal more realistically. Damage will no longer look like a simple stain — it will appear as a true change to the tooth’s surface. Players will need to drill carefully to avoid hitting the nerve, or risk a painful mistake and defeat.
📖 Story Progress
Finally, the narrative side of the project is moving forward. We’re assembling cutscenes, including some dramatic moments, to highlight that not everything in this game is harmless — after all, shark teeth can bite back.
