Greetings Rebels!
Wanted to take the opportunity to catch the Community up on all things VEGA Conflict, including a look at what the rest of 2017 and beyond has in store! Let’s dive in!
VEGA Conflict in China
We’ve been working to release a localized version of VEGA Conflict in China that will exist separately from the global branch of VEGA Conflict, and will start back from the relative beginning of the game. Right now this version of the game is gearing up for launch by doing some Marketing pushes, and part of that includes one or two pieces of early game content that will be exclusive to that version of the game. This is similar to what we did with the Nexus Destroyer when we launched on Android back in the day, and is what the Soul Battleship announcement I made was in reference to.
Players in China can still play in the global branch of VEGA Conflict from Steam if they choose - and the steps for linking to Steam are available here on KIXEYE.com under Support.
Tier 6 Season Finale
June will mark the conclusion of the Tier 6 season, and the defining aspects of this finale that I’m personally looking forward to are Ship X and the new Geir’s Fortress target!
Ship X (Suppressor Specialist)
The Specialist is a new catch-all class for our future Ship X hulls. Ship X, you’ll remember, is our rule-breaker hull. They are not restricted to a specific firing arc or existing class type, and moving forward the design of these ships will be centered around their capacity to solve a specific strategic ‘problem’.
The Suppressor Specialist is a modification of stolen Alien Reaper designs, with a 360 degree firing arc (similar to a Corvette). The human armor plating and the Alien engine design that hasn’t been mastered by human technology means it’s not quite as fast as Alien Reapers, but it’s still agile and will keep up with nearly all fleet types.
Its defining feature is a massive boost to damage against Squadrons and Swarms (+75% to damage against Squadrons/Swarms, which increases with each Mk upgrade). Coupled with the Seeker Missile, which features an outrageously high fire rate, the Suppressor becomes a key hull for closing the distance to any targets that launch squadrons or swarms of any kind, and ensuring that your fleet isn’t racking up damage along the way.
Geir’s Fortress
The final showdown with Geir has arrived. The infection has entirely consumed him, and he’s more alien now than human. The June event will feature an Alien Outpost boss target where he and his elite guard reside, labeled Geir’s Fortress. This is the most difficult target we’ve ever had in VEGA Conflict, and only exists at level 100 for now. Only the best of the best will be able to destroy this target, and we will be tracking victories against this base closely. Whomever destroys the most Geir’s Fortress targets will be receiving a Community Spotlight, a special forum title, and a VEGA Conflict merch bag sent directly to them from me.
Introducing The A.X.I.S. Project
In July, the Tier 6.5 season will begin and will occupy the remainder of 2017. We’ve traveled to Alien-owned sectors and seen what their power can unleash, in turn we’ve hit their first wave forces with a tremendous amount of devastation. This hasn’t gone unnoticed. Backup is beginning to arrive, and the Alien targets you’re familiar with will now begin to contain more battle-hardened veterans of the Alien forces. Heavy-duty ships that deploy strategies the VEGA sectors have not yet seen. We’ve certainly gotten their attention and they’re beginning to push back.
The Rebellion recognizes the need to strike while the Aliens are attempting to regroup. We are now the invading force, and no mercy can be shown if we expect to survive in this era of the Unknown threat. However, as Geir is no longer...in healthy enough condition, let’s say...to continue running the Xeno Division and providing anti-Alien tech, our Rebel Engineers have taken it upon themselves to get us what we need.
They call it Advanced Xeno Integrated Systems, or colloquially ‘The A.X.I.S. Project’. Advanced versions of the Xeno designs, completely owned and operated by the Rebel Faction and available to the pilots who earn them through victory in combat. No more taking what Geir hands out to us - the Rebellion is the master of its own destiny now.
But the A.X.I.S. Project is more than just ships and tech. The Engineers in charge of this project are overhauling existing systems to speed up every aspect of life in the Void. Such projects they’re hoping to release sometime during the 6.5 season include:
Time Tokens: one-time use tokens that immediately reduce the length of various projects, be it repairs, refits, or builds.
Harmonics: Certain tech will come with baked in Harmonics frequencies. Use tech with the same harmonics frequencies to receive additional buffs beyond their stats. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, Rebels!
Tier 1-5 construction time overhaul: implementation time to be determined, but our engineers think they can find a way to bring the build time of this tech down significantly.
Sector Repairs: no need to return home to repair or drop off the resources you’re hauling. Instantly repair from outside your base and continue on your way.
Social and Friends: Be able to find and relocate to friends in-game regardless of what platform you’re playing on. Mark individual players as friends and foes, separate to your Alliance diplomacy.
A New Era of PvP
In the immediate future, Civil War will be getting a refresh. New prizes for more relevant content, and the likely addition of a shared human sector where more battle can take place. Details to come closer to the release of the first refreshed Civil War.
There’s also word from the outer reaches of the Void that a group of marauders have been stealing hull and weapon blueprints from all known factions, repurposing them for PvP raids. As with most space pirates, these guys are pretty easy to push around, and we’ve already started taking some of this repurposed tech for ourselves. We expect to have it ready for Rebel use later in the year, and this PvP-focused tech will continue on separately from any seasonal faction that appears, with drastically lower build times to keep up with the immediacy of PvP combat!
Thanks for reading - we’re all incredibly excited about what the remainder of this year has in store and can’t wait to enjoy this ride with you all!
