August has been busy! This is what we've been working on:
Replication
Optimizations for multiplayer. We now do not replicate what is it on the fog of war. This gives two competitive advantages: the first one and the obvious one is performance. If the engine doesn't have to render what the client is not seeing, then we save a lot in terms of optimization.
The second one is anti-hacking. Yes, it is still early to think about this but if we build from the ground up with this in mind, we build a robust system that is hard to circumvent. And it comes for free with our architecture design, is not that we are diverting resource to do this.
New Characters
The Carnager is the first mounted unit for the Travelers. They do not only look menacing, they also ARE menacing. Swift and hard-hitting this double-threat will be a staple in your Traveler army.
New Buildings
The Eldmen Trading Outpost is currently in its polish stage. This building will be the main hub to trade resources, barter artifacts and other things as well. As always, we can see the roman/greek inspiration, but this time we are adding a more natural expansion of the building with some stands, to give it a more realistic look. As always, our art team (Adrian and Raul in this case), outdid themselves.
New Biome: Corrupted Lands
When the Travelers stepped into The Known World, they came as refugees, searching for a home away from home. This process involves their people adapting to this new land but the other way around is also true. This biome will be used in both the campaign and the skirmish maps and we hope you enjoy it.
New VFXs
When it dies, the Voidling explodes damaging everything in its vecinity. This and many more VFXs are being built as we speak to bring even more immersion to Timefront.
More things being worked on the background. But this is all for now, we'll keep you updated as we progress on development.
