Free Weekend Recap

Hello GRAV Community,

It’s been almost a week since our free weekend ended. It was fast and furious and left us with plenty of data to check out. We would like to recap our free weekend by sharing some of the more interesting stats we found:

Many New Journeys began on 11.12.15

We expected the player count to grow over the free weekend and grow it did! To be exact, we saw a player increase of 82,883. Keep in mind that we can only pull data from official servers, so players on their own servers couldn’t be counted. We also had a peak concurrent player count of 6,367 and for most of the weekend; GRAV was the #1 trending game on Steam (source: SteamCharts.com)

Decades of Fun

With the addition of over eighty-two thousand new players, we saw a very impressive total play count. If you took the overall playtime of all GRAV players during the free weekend, it would span over 3 decades!

War Never Changes

The total kill count was not only impressive, but it was also very interesting. Keep in mind that this data was pulled from both PvE and PvP servers. However, the total amount of players who were killed was: 50,478 or an average player kill of: 0.5 per player. That may sound high-ish, but it does not come close to total number of monster kills: 15,270,549 or an average monster kill count of: 156 monsters killed per player!

So, What About The Loot Crates?

As many of you know, during the free weekend, we made it so all players had an opportunity to find free GRAV Steam keys in loot crates. However, after the free weekend ended, we noticed that not as many keys dropped as we intended. We also noticed that many player might not have noticed they even got a key, so in our recent update 5.2, we added fireworks to help queue players that you’ve gotten a key.

Also, because we didn’t give out as many keys as we would have liked, we have decided that we should give each of the top 20 free weekend players and the top 10 pre-weekend players that opened the most loot crates a free GRAV Steam key. We feel like this is a fair way to give out some more keys.

Speaking of being fair, we have extended the period that loot crates can drop GRAV Steam keys. We genuinely want to see players getting keys!

If you were wondering, the total amount of loot crates that were opened during the free weekend was: 230,774.

Future Community Updates

Some of the more dedicated GRAV players may have noticed that we haven’t done an official community update post in some time. That is about to change. With that being said, we are adding some fun new additions to future posts.

First, we are going to be giving the screenshot of the week the title of “Shutterbug of the Week” and for the short term, we will be selecting the best base of the week and giving that person the title of “Creator Overlord of the Week”.

To enter for your chance to be included in our future community updates, simply submit your screenshots in our Steam forums, or send your submissions to us at any of our social accounts: Facebook, Twitter or Reddit. You can also reach out to us, by sending an e-mail to [email protected] with the subject line “community update submission”

Lastly, we would like to engage and communicate with all of you more. We have some projects planned that should help out with this. To start, we will be adding a QA section to each new community update post. In this section, we will be answering questions submitted by you.

You can submit your questions on our new official Community Update QA thread.

We want to thank everyone who gave GRAV a try over the weekend and we would like to welcome all the new players that have joined our growing community! Untill next time, EXPLORE BUILD DANCE SURVIVE.
