From the team:
Our team is making good progress and we're working on the final changes for the upcoming update so that it can go live asap. There's still quite a bit to cover though and today we'll be looking into a new area that you'll be able to explore.
High mountains
After wanting to add more variation to terrain for a while, this seemed like a step in the right direction. At first we wanted to add a place where people can enjoy air vehicles while flying in a rocky landscape. Since we want to avoid collisions as much as possible this immediately meant that the island had to be huge. Below you can see a part of the results:
With its 36,000,000 m² surface area (roughly 9 times the size of the valley), ± 800 trees, ± 700 bushes and peaks reaching up to 800 m there's no doubt whether this island is worthy of its name. Chances are big that you'll get lost the first time(s) you come here.
So what about land vehicles? Well...
So far we've tested a variety of vehicles out here and had a blast doing so. Buggies, hill climbers and other machines will be pushed to their limits and we can't wait to see what new creations will come out of this. When it comes to boats there's no need to worry since there's plenty of space for those as well.
Skybox changes
One of the other things that changed and that you'll notice right away is the skybox. While tweaking some of the other settings, altering the skybox to make the environment a bit more appealing seemed like a good idea. Below is a shot of the night skies in the new build:
What's next
We've already covered a lot, but with the update just around the corner there's still some stuff to be shown. Make sure to keep an eye out on steam for more news on when the update will go live and what you can expect in it.
Cheers!
