From the team
Together we've been able to build an awesome community full of people that are willing to share their knowledge and help each other out when needed. To make sure that everyone can give his input and get in touch with us or other players more easily the old chat has been replaced.
Key chat changes
The chat will fetch your steam username and as long as you have an internet connection you'll be able to use it in both multiplayer and singleplayer. To keep things organized it contains separate channels ("build helpers", "general chat", etc.) so that you can easily get in touch with other players whenever you need to. Switching between channels can be done with the help of the TAB key.
The networking overhaul also resulted in a standalone server which makes it easy to host your server on another machine. To ensure that you're able to change server settings on the fly we've added in a "admin-password" feature to the chat. This way you'll be able to make server adjustments from other pc's that have Homebrew installed. Since this allows multiple people to manage a server it'll come in especially handy when you want to have server that is online 24/7.
Some of the other chat commands allow you to:
- Teleport to another player's position
- Connect with a server directly
- Connect with the last server that you were in
- Change the in-game time
- Use all kinds of other shortcuts
- etc.
So what's next?
So far we've already discussed and in the next post we'll be focussing on the teleporter gadget that has been.
Cheers!
