One of the major changes that is coming when we leave Early Access will be the addition of a ladder system (functioning much like a leaderboard). This will determine your rankings in the game, reveal who really is the ‘top’ player, and even enable you to see how you match up against other players. Some of the visuals of the ladder are still in progress, but most of the features are designed already.
The Low-Down
The ladder for March of War: Face Off will be broken up into six tiers, or leagues, and the higher the tier, the higher the skill of the player (and thus the smaller percentage of players who are a part of it). Players will be divided into tiers based on their PvP skill and history, so a brand new player will be unranked, just as someone who has done nothing but played PvE will be unranked. Our current plan is that you will be able to determine a player’s tier based on the military rank icons on their avatar, which veteran players likely remember from when we first launched (yes, we’ve been planning a ladder from the very beginning).
Ladders will work in seasons. The exact length of a season has yet to be determined, but will likely be one month. When a new season starts, the rankings will be reset. After your first PvP battle, you will be placed in the tier appropriate to you and then rise to the top. You will be able to see the scores and the number of wins/losses for the battles you participate in, and your PvP wins will determine your score ranking. Once again, PvE battles have nothing to do with your ladder ranking.
Ladder ranking is affected by true battles against players from the PvP queue alone. Challenges will not change your ranking, so it will not be easy for someone to challenge farm (and we’ve also got improvements to the queue coming that will make it much more fair who you are matched against, in light of this change).
You can view the ladder from a button on the main menu page, as well as an image on your profile page which also indicates which tier you’re a member of.

Keep in mind, this is a ‘wip’ screenshot – so there’s a lot of dummy information to show how it will look when it’s filled out. Bonus: You can see how the new menu screen looks underneath it!
Disclaimer
As we’re still working on development, some aspects of the ladder may change drastically between now and the time of release. But this is what it looks like now. Let us know what you think on the forums!
