In the cold, unforgiving waters off Scotland's Outer Hebrides lie the Flannan Isles, a place where history and mystery intertwine in one of the sea's most enduring enigmas. The disappearance of the three lighthouse keepers in December 1900 has captivated imaginations for decades, spawning theories of madness, ghostly apparitions, and otherworldly vanishings.
It is this story, and its mysteries, that have inspired Little Lighthouse of Horror: and you can play it today.
About the Flannan Isles Mysteries:
On December 15, 1900, a relief vessel arrived at the Flannan Isles lighthouse to find it eerily silent. No keepers to greet them, no sign of struggle, just an abandoned lighthouse with meals left uneaten and beds unslept in.
But what happened? There are many theories. From a freak wave sweeping them away, to supernatural forces being at play. Some even wrote of the madness setting in from the isolation, leading to unthinkable acts. Over a century after the facts, no one knows, and perhaps will never know, what really happened.
Enter "Little Lighthouse of Horror," where you will play as Lawrence, the new keeper stepping onto these haunted isles. The game will take you into a psychological horror experience rich with the same elements of isolation and mystery of the real Isles, with the added difference that maybe you… can survive.
Here’s the main game features:
- Sanity System: Just as the keepers might have succumbed to the mental toll of isolation, players must manage Lawrence's sanity, making choices that could lead to survival or descent into madness.
- Resource Management: The game reflects the keepers' daily struggle with limited supplies, where managing resources like oil and food becomes critical to survival, echoing the real life challenges of lighthouse living.
- Immersive Environment: With its pixel art and atmospheric sound design, the game recreates the haunting ambiance of the Flannan Isles, turning the lighthouse into a beacon of both hope and terror.
- Multiple Endings: Much like the mystery itself, your journey can end in various ways, each influenced by the decisions you make, offering a personal touch to the age old tale of the missing keepers.
We hope then that Little Lighthouse of Horror not only serves to provide you with a frantic and frightening experience, but also serves as a cultural artifact, rekindling interest in the Flannan Isles mystery (we invite you to do some reading yourself, it’s fascinating!)
