Hi everyone,
We’d hoped 0.1.5 would go out this week, but although our fixes seemed to resolve some of the issues, during testing they highlighted other problems which we need to address before we’re able to release the patch.
Some of you want to know more about the tech challenges that we’re currently facing. What we can say is part of this issue has to do with legacy code. Over the last couple of years of development, there have been certain fixes put in place that worked at the time to solve particular problems. As we’re now working on future-proofing the game in 0.1.5 by upgrading to a newer version of the tech, some of those features or fixes are incompatible and need to be re-engineered.
This is one of the reasons we made the Steam page private, so we could focus on clearing up this technical debt in order to both get the game itself stable as well as improve the development of the game - all before we launch it into Early Access when we feel it’ll meet players’ expectations.
For those of you who are with us at this stage already, we can’t express our gratitude enough for your patience and support. We keep seeing a lot of you having fun with the game and loving it, despite the periods of frustration (for you and us) that can crop up.
We’re all heads down working on a solution for 0.1.5 - watch this space!
More from 0.1.6
Remember, once 0.1.5 is released, 0.1.6 won’t be far behind as we’ve been working on them both in conjunction. Just like we did with the last update, here’s a look at a feature coming in 0.1.6 - it’s a biggun.
Multiple Characters
We’ve done an overhaul of the ways characters work and added an extra two slots, so now you can have a maximum of three. It’s something the community’s been asking for for a while, so here you go!
A little bonus
As most of you enjoyed seeing one of Jason’s database, we’ve put another one up all to do with the engines in the game. Enjoy!
