Hello! It's Leaderboard Patch Day. Do you have what it takes to be the very best?
Disclaimer: 20XX is in alpha. As we develop the game, we may make changes that require us to invalidate or wipe your 20XX save files, Steam Leaderboard info/achievements, and other save-y stuff like that. Be aware! We anticipate the need to do this for the first time in the April 15, 2015 patch. (We thought we'd do it today, April 1, but pushed it back two weeks.)
TL;DR for today's patch: Leaderboard support! Daily seeded challenges! Daily hardcore challenges! Probably bugs involving all three!!
For the next patch or two: Eridu rework, more level variability, moving Skulls into the unlock system, more boss work, proper speedrunning mode, lots more art!
On the horizon (extremely subject to change): online play, safehouse rework, more Leaderboard changes.
ALSO: We've submitted our first price increase to Valve. When approved, 20XX's price will increase to $9.99 USD.
As always, let us know if anything's busted or if we missed some changes.
BIG CHANGES:
- Added the Daily Challenge mode. Each day (resets at midnight PST) the Daily Challenge offers players a unique set of levels that's the same for everyone who plays it that day. (It's a seeded run.) You only get one attempt at each Daily Challenge! If you die or quit, you'll have to wait until tomorrow's Daily Challenge to try again. In Daily Challenges, Soul Foes drop 5 nuts instead of Soul Nuts.
- Added the Daily Hardcore mode. It's similar to the Daily Challenge, but each Daily Hardcore comes with 3 randomly chosen Skulls activated. It's also a once-per-day deal, and the levels generated are the same for all players.
- 20XX now has Leaderboard support! For now, 20XX tracks your highest nutscore and fastest game completion time, as well as high nutscores for the Daily Challenge and Daily Hardcore modes. (Next patch, we'll have fastest run leaderboards for the Dailies, too.) Access the Leaderboards from the Title Screen. (Art for the Leaderboards option WIP.)
- Reorganized the Safehouse to accomodate the new Challenge portals. (This isn't our official Safehouse rework.)
SMALL CHANGES:
- Players now start with 8 energy by default (up from 6).
- Gave Agnisort's moving platforms some better feel. (There'll be proper tracks for them soon, too!)
- Silver Crates have been nerfed substantially.
BUG FIXES:
- Fixed an issue where Skulls that should prevent certain item spawns were failing to do so.
