20XX moves forward today with a smaller-than-normal patch. (We're humans who like to spend the holidays with our families and friends, too.)
Today's patch brings a few big things -- much clearer indications of what you're picking up and the damage you're dealing in the form of indicator numbers and messages, another beta enemy, and an additional step toward our economy overhaul.
Coming up next (not in today's patch): Better difficulty scaling in terms of level generation, more level variance, boss overhauls, and the return of our ingame progression system.
As always, let us know if anything's busted or if we missed some changes. Thanks again!
BIG CHANGES:
- All store items now have cost ranges based on their value (instead of always costing 15). In every case, this is a central value +/- 20%. (This is one of the economic changes we're making in 20XX -- more to come soon!)
- Lots of in-game indicator text, including:
- Damage numbers on enemy hit (will be controllable via options next patch)
- Damage taken when the player is hit
- Notifications when picking up health, energy, and nuts
- Warnings when the player tries to do something he can't (pressing the Power key without a Power, or without enough energy, or trying to buy an item he can't afford)
- Notifications when spending nuts
SMALL CHANGES:
- Players are now differently colored if they're the same character in co-op play.
- Players now have infinite HP/Energy in the tutorial, and the HP/Energy bars no longer display during it.
- All items that give +MaxHP or +MaxEnergy should now give you full new bars, not empty ones. (If you see any that don't seem to obey this rule, tell us!)
- Another beta-type enemy in the form of the Penguin.
BUG FIXES:
- Fixed an issue with Ace's charge where he'd sometimes effectively get two charged attacks in a row.
- Fixed a bug where dashing on magnetic ceilings would cause insane results.
- Fixed bugs causing bats to not move horizontally and lotuses to freak out. (May have also fixed a bee bug, but we're not 100% on this one.)
