Hello! Today's 20XX patch introduces another new roomtype: the Prototype room. (The art in the Prototype room is very, very placeholder.) The Prototype room contains a familiar face and the promise of greatness - but at what cost? (This patch contains 10 new items, all of which are only available in Prototype rooms.)
This patch also contains a bunch of fixes, QOL changes, and starts to lay the groundwork for our Big Item Patch.
Disclaimer: 20XX is in beta. As we develop the game, we may make changes that require us to invalidate or wipe your 20XX save files, Steam Leaderboard info/achievements, and other save-y stuff like that. Be aware!
(When we change the Scoring mechanism on our leaderboards, we're likely to wipe the all-time boards for both Score and Time. Beware!)
Note: The closer we get to release, the closer the price will get to our planned Full Release price of $15.
TL;DR for today's patch: Prototype Rooms! Bug fixes.
For the next patch or two: Big item patch, lots of boss stuff. A few other ways to spend nuts & soul nuts.
As always, let us know if anything's busted or if we missed a change.
Happy Thanksgiving!
BIG CHANGES:
- Added Prototype rooms! Discover their glory.
- Iterated on the enemy placement algorithm. Bats and the like will still swarm, but "big" enemies will now avoid clustering on top of one another in levels.
- Boss HP reduced by 25%.
- Tweaked boss vulnerability multipliers. In general, the weapon a boss is weak against is now about 50% stronger. Vera does much more damage against most bosses.
SMALL CHANGES:
- Built a new on-pickup messaging system. The info you get from picking stuff up is now much more useful.
- Reworked the "no jumping!" challenge condition. (You can now jump 5 times before failing.)
- "Don't attack!" challenges can't show up before level 3.
- Force Nova can no longer multi-hit enemies.
- Sound Investments now grants 20% of your nut total on level completion (instead of +10). It stacks with itself (for now).
- Damage from falls now resets the Targeter in Frostor.
BUG FIXES:
- Fixed a bug causing Black Square items to show up now and again.
- Fixed a bug where basic Lightning Guys thought they could hit you horizontally. They can't, and now know better.
- Damage boosts reworked under the hood. Several items now grant slightly more or less damage, and the scaling's a bit different.
- Finally fixed the weird on-load resolution issues. (This may also take a weird on-startup crash bug with it -- here's hoping!)
- Fixed a bug causing Ace to be unable to hit the Spider boss when he's on the ceiling.
- Fixed a bug causing client boss health bars to display incorrect info.
- Enemies outside of Challenge Rooms will now ignore players during the Challenge Waves.
KNOWN ISSUES:
- If you come across an on-startup crash bug, tell us! We think it's related to some of our weird resolution issues, but we currently believe those might be fixed. Let us know!
