20XX 0.953b Patch Notes -- May 25th, 2016

Hello! Today's 20XX patch revamps 3 more bosses, adds a character stat display to the pause menu, and a bunch more!

FYI: I'm going to be out of town next week! 0.954b will be accordingly smaller.

Disclaimer: 20XX is in beta. As we develop the game, we may make changes that require us to invalidate or wipe your 20XX save files, Steam Leaderboard info/achievements, and other save-y stuff like that. Be aware!

Note: The closer we get to release, the closer the price will get to our planned Full Release price of $15.

TL;DR for today's patch: New Eternal Star! New Shatterbeak (shatterwhat?)! Slightly-new Kur!

For the next few patches: Level design work, boss work, narrative work!

As always, let us know if anything's busted or if we missed a change.

BIG CHANGES:

  • Kur rework! This one's lighter than our others. Behold his fairer attack patterns and new mechanic!
  • Shatterbeak rework! (This is the old Penguin boss.) New mostly-everything!
  • Eternal Star rework!
  • The Pause screen now shows your current attack damage, power damage, speed, and jump modifiers.

SMALL CHANGES:

  • It begins to snow over the chilled Frostor landscape.
  • Modified *displayed* jump scaling and jump-boost from items. (Nothing has changed - just the way the game displays it.)
  • Red Slots now always drop something. You'll now get Augs a lot!
  • Blue Slots have been removed. Nuts are usually better spent elsewhere, anyway.
  • Hovering and Flying (Armatort/Owlhawk set boots) no longer scale with player speed mods. (Sorry!)
  • Reduced shop cost scaling slightly. The impact of this is that items are ~6% cheaper at level 1, and ~18% cheaper at level 8.
  • In Co-op, a player with 0 Max HP now resurrects with 1 armor point instead of dying instantly.
  • "Chain" effects now occur after a 0.1s delay, so using the Juiced Force Nova in a crowded room will no longer melt your computer.
  • At Level 8, the Twin Astrals now enrage at half health regardless of whether or not their partner is alive.
  • Some item names have been changed, but their new icons aren't ready yet - they'll be in next patch.
  • Ninja Sash speed boost down to 3 (from 4).
  • Bantam Dancer speed boost down to 1 (from 2).

BUG FIXES:

  • Twin Astrals can no longer be damaged by attacking their beamchain.
  • Running over edges at extremely high speeds (not seen in normal gameplay) no longer sometimes improperly sets the "last ground" location you return to after falling.
  • Fixed the Lotus seeming invulnerable to the client after the first go-around (it was still taking damage; just didn't display it).
  • Fixed a ton of small bugs.
