Hello! Today's patch adds new Frostor level pieces (part 1 of 2), a new way to spend Soul Chips in the Ark, and generally fixes a bunch of stuff up. (It's a smaller patch on account of me being out of town for a week of it.)
NB: We're going to be at PAX Prime (West?) in two short weeks - if you're going to be there, come find us in the Indie MEGABOOTH and say hi! (Also, on the off chance that anyone wants to help us man the booth from time to time, we won't turn down good help!)
Also NB: We skipped the SF patch this cycle around, but there should be one next week.
Disclaimer: 20XX is in beta. As we develop the game, we may make changes that require us to invalidate or wipe your 20XX save files, Steam Leaderboard info/achievements, and other save-y stuff like that. Be aware!
Note, seriously, this time: 20XX's price will increase to the final price of $15 in conjunction with 20XX's next patch on August 31. This is not a statement that we're about to go to full release or launch Level 9; 20XX has come a long way since the price went up to $12. There's still lots of work to do on Level 9, and a ton of other stuff to get done before 1.0!
TL;DR for today's patch: Frostor pieces! (Get ready for more weirdly placed Frostor things!) Token Machine! Game Over screen! Pre-boss stuff! Crash fixes!
For the next few patches: More Frostor pieces & hopefully Jungle pieces part 1! Narrative!
As always, let us know if anything's busted or if we missed a change.
BIG CHANGES:
- New Frostor level pieces (part 1 of 2).
- Frostor Bombhive tweaks:
- Now fizzles out if the player gets far away enough, allowing players to run past properly.
- HP reduced by 40%.
- Latch on -> explode timer increased by 33%.
- No longer grants points in Challenges (to make them more optional to kill).
- The Token Machine has been added to the Ark. Spend your excess Soul Chips on Tokens for your next run! You can buy however many you have Chips for.
- The price increases for each Token purchased, but resets whenever the player returns to the Ark from a run.
- Revamped the Game Over screen!
- Revamped level-end and pre-boss rewards a bit - instead of a locked Shop teleporter always showing up before a boss and a random Machine spawning afterwards, the pre-boss hallway now *may* contain a free crate, usually contains a Machine of some kind, and sometimes contains a Shop teleporter (unlocked, no $$ needed).
- This pre-boss Machine can be the special new Cheap Health Machine, which only costs 2 nuts per use.
SMALL CHANGES:
- Splinterfrost can now be fired straight ahead or at 45 degree angles from straight (diagonals forward/up and forward/down).
- Slight performance improvements.
BUG FIXES:
- Fixed another cause of the "invisible & stationary enemy" bug.
- Fixed a crash relating to hitting bosses with their weaknesses while Damage Numbers were turned off.
- Fixed an issue causing some folks with unusual hardware from being able to start the game (hopefully - this should be the d3dcDevice failure issue - if you still see this, please report)! These players may still experience issues trying to switch to fullscreen after the game is up - tell us what happens!
- This fix temporarily disables those users from being able to start the game in "true" fullscreen, but at least it'll run. More coming!
KNOWN ISSUES:
- Machines still display in odd places sometimes in online co-op -- really looking to fix this one for next patch!
