20XX 0.962b Patch Notes - September 28, 2016

Hello! Today's 20XX patch reworks the Lotus Boss, adds in the new and old DATALORE system, makes some character tweaks, and more!

Disclaimer: 20XX is in beta. As we develop the game, we may make changes that require us to invalidate or wipe your 20XX save files, Steam Leaderboard info/achievements, and other save-y stuff like that. Be aware!

TL;DR for today's patch: Lotus Boss redo! DATALORE! Character tweaks! A million fixes!

For the next few patches: Probably a lot of UI polish! More narrative stuff! More boss tweaks!

As always, let us know if anything's busted or if we missed a change.

BIG CHANGES:

  • New Death Lotus! It's a very different fight now.
  • DATALORE rides again! All your favorite items (and also the ones you hate) are now proudly displayed and expounded upon in the DATALORE menu (accessible from the Pause screen).
  • Boss durability changes:
    • Ace's combos now delay boss iframes, so the frames start at the end of his combo (not the start).
    • Ace's attacks now trigger longer iframes versus bosses.

  • Character tweaks:

    • Ace and Nina's tiny differences have been flattened out. We don't think they really added a whole lot, and mostly just got a little confusing. So:
    • Ace's starting health and base attack damage are now 8 and +0 (down from 10 and +2).
    • Nina's starting Power damage is now +0 (down from +2).
    • The base damage on Ace's weapons have been raised by about 20% -- some a little more, some a little less -- to counteract the base attack damage change. His initial combo damage is still 12-12-20, but his attacks now scale better.

  • For both of the above sets of reasons, boss health has come down slightly across the board.

SMALL CHANGES:

  • Combat Repros now properly target Frostor Bombhives.
  • Armor gain, in general, has been nerfed a bit. Stuff that grants armor just plain grants too much.
    • Crates that used to contain two armor capsules (4 armor) now contain one (2 armor).
    • Armor Bloom now grants 6 armor (down from 10).
    • Enemy armor droprates unaffected.
    • Armorspreader unaffected.
    • Armor Nut armor-on-nut-pickup chance reduced by 33%.

  • The level 1 boss chest no longer always provides a giant health shower.
  • All boss chests now provide slightly less energy.
  • Rollster Beta tweaks:

    • (All versions) now have slight angular variance on their bounce attacks.
    • Fixes for Endless & Undying scaling for Rollster Minis.
    • Boomerang Blade attacks now spin up slightly to his side, and grow into existence before rolling on along. They don't do damage until they're all grown up.
    • Fixed an issue causing Rollster Beta to be a little sticky on walls he ought to bounce right off of. (bugfix)

  • The Pickup Display now comes down from the top in Boss Rooms.
  • Slot Machines now spit out their bounties closer to the ground, and use the space they're in a little more efficiently.
  • Splinterfrost's up/down angled firing now only requires holding up or down, instead of up+forward or down+forward.
  • Violence Enhancer (Prototype) now grants bonuses equal to your current bonuses, clamped in the 5-10 range. (Picking up VE when you have more than 5 Attack or Power damage now gives a bigger boost.)

BUG FIXES:

  • Leaving the game no longer resets your One-run Shop.
  • Fixed Endless hazard scaling (it was double dipping with the old Endless hazard scaling).
  • Fixed Endless scaling also applying to health gains. (ooops!)
  • Fixed some bugs relating to using the Ark token machine and quitting/reloading the Ark before starting a run.
  • Shatterbeak's Ice Blocks no longer hang around after he dies sometimes.
  • Fixed some wonkiness involved with holding up and down and firing Vera.
  • When unlocking or one-run buying the Meganut, players can no longer change characters to have the +25 nuts applied over and over.
  • A whole bunch more.

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • Some players using XBox One controllers are finding their inputs borked -- RT doesn't work, can't attack, etc. It's caused by a Microsoft-made change. We still don't officially support XBone controllers, but we're looking to fix this for next patch anyway - in the meantime, please use joy2key, xpadder, or similar software to emulate keyboard functionality with your controller. You can also unbind LT, which should do the trick as a workaround.
