Hey everyone!
I'd like to provide an update on how development of Melvor Idle 2 has been tracking since the original announcement.
Over the past year, we’ve posted a series of external updates to our official website (and cross-posted to our socials/Discord/Reddit). If you’re curious about our development progress prior to this announcement, you can check those out here:

Below is the lates development update for June 2026. We'll also be posting these development update announcements to Steam from now on.
Melvor Idle 2 Development Progress Update (June 2026)
Our latest Alpha update was absolutely immense in scope, and as such this progress update will be a little longer than the previous ones we’ve posted.
Before we dive into the details of our most recent Major Update, let’s get an overview of our progress.
Development Progress Infographic
Here is our update progress infographic. It shows what content is currently available for Testing, what's coming next, and what’s still to come.
Note that this is showing planned major features up until v1.0. Early Access will launch prior to everything being completed.
The Combat Update
Our most recent Alpha update was the biggest one the game has seen yet (and probably the biggest one it’s going to see before v1.0). It introduced 12 new skills, the entire Combat system, and a whole host of other changes.
This update’s scale meant it took a while to complete - over 4 months from start to finish. It was important to us to ship this update as a single package, since every skill and system we added was connected deeply to at least some of the others.
Just to put the scope in perspective, in this update we added:
12 new skills (8 combat, 4 non-combat) & all required content & mechanics
731 new Items
12 new pets
135 monsters
40 Magic Spells
34 Prayers
There was a lot more content added across the game on top of what we listed there, many specific to existing Skills and content.
Many of the non-Combat Skills added such as Thieving, Agility or Herblore come equipped with updated mechanics or a complete rework compared to Melvor Idle (looking at you, Agility).
Combat has many new and updated mechanics that promote build diversity and challenges you to really think about how you may tackle certain obstacles you come across. We wanted to elevate the challenge a bit more in Melvor Idle 2 and move away from the "one weapon is BiS" meta that is seen in Melvor Idle. Weapon choices are a lot more important and can alter the outcome of a battle in many ways.
Since the update, we’ve also been keeping tabs on the bugs, balance issues, and other problems players have been facing. We’ve now released 4 minor updates, each balancing the content based on feedback, adding quality of life, fixing bugs, adding in more artwork, and tweaking the numbers of the various systems.
The next Major Update
Now that we’ve got the Combat Update in the hands of the Patrons, we’re moving on to our next addition. Our next update (as you saw in the infographic) will bring Astrology and the Combat Mastery Guilds.
Mastery Guilds are the new Mastery feature in Melvor Idle 2, which replaces the per-Item Mastery mechanic with a Task-based system instead. We're bringing this feature over to Combat which aims to challenge you in ways you may not have thought of.
You’ll also notice that this update is much smaller, and this is deliberate. We’re moving back to a cadence of smaller, more regular content additions. This worked great for us in the past, and now that the Combat Update has been added it’s the way we’re aiming to continue into the future. These smaller, focused updates are great for testing, and they also mean we get to keep putting new content in everyone’s hands much more regularly.
Patreon Updates
Our Patreon Community has continued to be the most important factor during our development. We have an absolutely amazing large group of players who have been dedicated to testing every new update. They’ve provided invaluable feedback on areas we could improve, tracked down hundreds of bugs (big and small), and given us some amazing ideas for the game’s future. They've spotted many underlying issues that we've been able to address early before it became too ingrained within the game.
It’s safe to say that having our Patreon community on board since the very early days of the project has been a massive blessing for us. Getting all of this incredible feedback so early means that the version of Melvor Idle 2 that hits early access will be far and away better than what it might have been otherwise.
As always, we continue to keep our Patrons up to date via Patreon with Dev Updates every 1-2 weeks. These updates give insights into the development process itself, recent progress, upcoming content, and more. To date, we’ve published a total of 34 Dev Updates.
As always, we’d recommend you only sign up to Patreon if you want to provide feedback and be part of the game’s development journey. Melvor Idle 2 is still in Alpha, and there’s still plenty to do before it feels like a full, complete and polished game. If you just want to play the game, your best bet is to wait until Early Access (or the full release).

Conclusion & FAQs
That’s all for now! I’ll be back with another update once we’ve got the next Major Update out to our players. We’re still fully in the swing of Alpha Development, but we’re getting closer and closer to the point where we’re ready to open up to public Play Testing.
Our Discord server is, as always, open to everyone to join. I spend most of my time focused on the Patreon-only Melvor Idle 2 channels, but our community outside of those spaces is still as amazing as ever!
